  1. Voting for Ron Paul might make some things better...bringing back the troops, for example. But it also might lead to civil unrest due to cutbacks. And I don't think anyone can solve the debt problem. Voting for Ron Paul might be good intentions but I am sure he'd be frustrated throughout his term in office. There is no saviour.
  2. I respect Adams boldness but this is a bad idea because he has no control over it. It only takes one hot-headed libertarian to do something violent which will smear the whole movement.
  3. quote user But I can't pretend that the magical free will exists either. I wish I could figure it out. I feel like there must be a way to fit it but I'm stumped atm. I know it can't just mean saying obviously any bad thing was going to happen and we should just accept bad things as well as good things. That's obviously not true. That just gives an excuse for bad people to do whatever they want. But beyond that, I'm stumped. quote If you are determined to believe in determinism & reject free-will, then there is no possibilty for you to believe anything else. You would have no capacity for distinguishing beween truth & error. You can still make the argument as a determinist but you have no credibility since your understanding (or lack thereof) is out of your control.
  4. I don't remember those characters expressing joy that they lost at love or business. I think the message was that "proper" men accept the reality of the connection between value & voluntary relationships. And enjoy the challenge of competing of which losing is a possibility.
  5. Without college your best bet for a good living is being your own boss in a blue collar trade. You'd probably have to work as an employee for a few years to get experience. But don't waste time as an employee unless it is a business you want to make a career out of. I'll give a personal example to show that I have some credibility on the subject. I started as a locksmith employee in 1979. I started my own locksmith business in 1982. I live in a county of only 20,000 people & average 5 hours of work per day. Over the last thirty years I have managed to save about $14,000.00 per year & I have $430,000.00 in assets with no debts. None of this came from investments as my investments lost me more money than I made. Just putting money in bank accounts worked for me. One more thing...don't get married if you want to protect your assets. I did marry & divorce 20 years later but I got very lucky in the financials of the divirce. Most men won't get so lucky in a divorce.
  6. I dated a woman with BPD for five years. Some of the best & worst times of my life. As I'm sure you know BPD's are self-destructive. Anything you love (including philosophy forums) are going to turn into something to hate. No amount of external acceptance from others is going to work long term as BPD's will turn on those who love them. Only internal self-acceptance will work.Which is extremely rare (but possible) with BPD's.
