  1. A vote is an appeal to, and acknowledgement of, the authority of government. Maintaining an enlightened state of mind while voting does not change its nature nor absolve you of being an idiot--it's just doubly sad and pathetic because you really ought to know better. Apologies for the intrusion, but some needed a reminder. That is all. (Not that Rand. I meant the Paul one.)
  2. Thank you very much, kind sir! "Uploaded on Oct 28, 2008" I was only off by a year or five...
  3. "Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology" -- read it. Rand points out that the dichotomy of necessary and contingent truths hinges on the mistake of conflating meaning (actual concrete referents) with definition (discriminating essentials). Basically: she reveals that the analytic-synthetic dichotomy is Platonic forms in disguise. She was brilliant on this subject in particular.
  4. Does anybody know which Youtube video that line is from? I can't remember the title, and my searches have been unfruitful. In it, Stefan likens government officials to schoolyard bullies taunting a child (metaphorical voter) with a piece of stolen candy in a game of keep-away/monkey-in-the-middle. I think it was posted in the last year or two, and was a fairly short by stefbot standards, like ~20 minutes or less.
