Oops, to be precise it was my third post. Thanks MMX, I was also thinking about how in this market there is not really competition, there are opponents. The competition for philosophy based shows is virtually nonexistent because hardly anyone offers them. The competition is so slim, that if someone were to start putting out a show anywhere close to the level of FDR, I think listeners in general would be inclined to listen to both shows. So I don't think FDR would lose much market share, but rather continue to grow in tandem with the hypothetical new show. And they'd probably interview each other which would be EPIC!

Hi there Long time listener first time poster. Just turned 25 (brain is now fully developed! go!) so I wanted to finally leave my thoughts here on how brilliant FDR is. It's because of the sheer size of the market it is catering to. Most people have grown up scared of disapproval of at least one, if not both of their parents. Of course there is a giant range of experiences but in the end, as Stef points out repeatedly, when you are a child everything is up to your parents. The market for FDR is so huge because every single person has experienced the desire to communicate with parents in a real and concrete manner, and yet only a small percentage have an open enough dialogue with their parents to facilitate that. For a while I was under the impression that the biggest market for FDR were libertarians and atheists. Silly me, because literally everyone has parents... Anyway, genius work all around here at FDR. Thanks for pioneering the open source philosophy marketplace, everybody is better for it. -beans
