What bothers me about the IRA stuff; why do I want financial instutions keeping a record of my Bitcoin balance? So I can pay capital gains taxes? Haaaa, yeah right.
As bitcoin moves toward mainstream, there will be many people and businesses who choose to openly state their wallet ownership. However, bitcoin still has the anonymous options and mixing services for those who do not want that. It is still positive movement by moving bitcoin to somewhat fit the existing system as the future potential and realization of what bitcoin actually is will be more accepted and less scary for people.

cmon wesley we know bitcoin isnt real money, chocolate gold coins are the only real currency because they have delicious intrinsic chocolate value.
Don't tell them my true money acquisition plan! I want to keep the prices low while I hoard....
However, this article may even bring pause to some of the anti-bitcoiners. This provides a quite compelling reason as to why bitcion will go up in price over the next 6 months or so.
Those people can put a little in to speculate and then get out by buying silver with their bitcoin or something. Everyone would be happy!

I recently noticed the poll feature for the threads, and have not seen anyone use them yet.
I figured I would just make 3 general questions to see what people respond and raise awareness of the poll feature. I think it could be interesting to add to some of the threads where there are somewhat "sides" or "opinions" that people may take.
Could be interesting, I would like to see the results!

Wall Street is getting ready to dive into Bitcoin, pouring vast amounts of institutional and investor money into the digital currency that has been labeled a "bubble" by former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan and which not long ago was seen as the sole preserve of crypto-geeks, monetary-theory wonks and anti-government types.
So says Barry Silbert, founder and chief executive of SecondMarket, the online platform that allows its users to trade private company stocks. "We're three to six months away from Wall Street dollars moving into Bitcoin in a big way," he says.
Silbert should know: Earlier this fall, he launched the Bitcoin Investment Trust, the first investment vehicle allowing institutional investors to put money into the Bitcoin market while avoiding the hassle of personally holding the currency. The trust is open only to accredited investors, and the minimum investment is $25,000.
Speaking on Tuesday night at a private dinner for Bitcoin cognoscenti in New York, Silbert said he was astonished by the BIT's performance. "We launched six weeks ago and we're up to $70 million. That blows my mind. We were hoping to get to $10 million by the end of the year."
The value of the BIT derives entirely from the price of Bitcoin; it has benefited in recent weeks as Bitcoin soared north of $1,200. Because of a recent dip, the net assets of the trust now stand at about $63 million, which means it is holding that dollar value in bitcoins.
Silbert says he meets frequently with hedge fund workers, traders at large financial institutions and others who want to gain a better understanding of digital currencies and figure out how to capitalize on them. He reckons that Wall Street will enter the Bitcoin market in roughly three waves. The first is already beginning, and it's taking the form of IRA money. Customers with self-directed IRAs at Fidelity, Pensco Trust Company, The Entrust Group and Millenium Trust Company are now able to invest some of their money in Bitcoin via the BIT. Silbert expects most other IRAs to approve the BIT as an investment vehicle before the second quarter of next year, in response to growing interest from their customers.
Also in this first wave will be clients of the wealth-management arms of Wall Street banks. Silbert says the BIT is in conversations with "several major banks" and he expects the trust to be an approved product on their wealth-management platforms within the first half of 2014.
The second wave will be hedge funds and other institutional investors. "The principals that work at all those firms are starting to invest personally in the BIT," Silbert says. Anecdotally, he adds, it's clear they are investing in the Bitcoin market through other platforms as well. With traders, portfolio managers and executives all gaining interest, it appears to be only a matter of time before their firms follow suit and take a position in the digital currency.
The third wave will be Wall Street banks themselves, motivated purely by profit, says Silbert. "These banks already have large teams trading dollars and euros and yen and gold. Ultimately, Bitcoin is no different than those" as far as forex and commodities traders are concerned, he says. And indeed, currency strategists at Bank of America issued a note to clients last Thursday talking up Bitcoin's potential and analyzing its fair market value.
While most institutional investors are keeping mum on Bitcoin for the time being, the head of one firm has been outspoken about his faith in the cryptocurrency. Michael Novogratz, the co-chief investment officer of macro funds at Fortress, plumped for Bitcoin at a conference held in New York on Oct. 24. He recommended that investors "put a little money in Bitcoin," saying its value would appreciate significantly over the next few years.
At the time, the price of a single bitcoin was less than $200 on most exchanges. "I have a nice little Bitcoin position," Novogratz said at the conference. "Enough that I'm smiling that it doubled." One can imagine how that smile must have widened in the weeks since.
But it's hard to say where the price will be a month or six months from now. Although right now Silbert is happy to see Bitcoin performing above his expectations, in the near term "the price volatility is only going to get worse," he says. "We haven't seen anything yet."
He added, "Once Wall Street starts putting money into Bitcoin -- we're talking about hundreds of millions, billions of dollars moving in -- it's going to have a pretty dramatic effect on the price."

Case in point I would say was the recent video about the woman who had circumcised her son.
I'm only 5 minutes in but oh my god, this woman was already sorry she had done it and didn't want to do it again, and Stef is just piling on the shame
What purpose does this serve apart from makign someone who feels shit feel even more shit?
If this is what other people think they have to face for admitting they are wrong then they are far less likely to admit that they were wrong.
I may have missed something, but I thought the point was that she wasn't really taking responsibility. She was passing off responsibility onto all of these other people. In order to apologize, you have to take responsibility for what was done, not say "I'm sorry" and then invent a bunch of excuses as to why it wasn't your fault.

I think I would consider someone calling me normal to be insulting.
When I imagine the normal person as far as physical characteristics, ideas, work life, social relationships, and actions performed in life (maybe add a few more categories, but you get the idea) I probably would have a template of what not to do.

It's okay, I know that the idea of doing a spirtiual ritual can sound crazy, medieval, bizarre ...etc. especially when you've never tried it or experienced its outcome.
If you want to see emperical evidence, why not try it? Experiment it and see the result.
Here's some advice:
1. Make the sacrifice to stop yourself from giving into your negative emotions. What I mean by this, is avoid having those emotions that are felt below your heart. Lust, anger, envy, ...etc. I'm sure you know what I mean. When you're at work, or go walk in the street, mall, surfing the internet, watching movies ...etc. avoid having these feelings.
Avoid drinking alchohol, or taking drugs, ...etc. in order to prevent yourself from having negative feelings.
Also try not to instigate others to have these emotions.
If the temptations to give into certain desires becomes overwhelming for you,you may want to consider changing you diet, avoid certain foods or even fasting a few times to clam down yourself down.
2. As you work on making these sacrifices, try your best to wake up around dawn and make your prayer. Muslims tend to do it by facing Mecca, and place their head on the ground (it's like a yoga exercie). Try it this way to see for yourself.
3. When you make your prayer, you have to focus fully on the One Creator (ie. don't think about your friends, yourself, your mom/dad, not Jesus, not the ritual itself ...etc. just the One Creator). When you focus soley on Him, He will address your requests (provided it's not vauge, and it was made with no negative thoughts).
Let us know how it went and be honest about what coincidences you've observed.
What I meant by someone saying something... is that they will say a word, or the name of a book, or reccomend a certain website, ...etc
which if you investigate further you will find the answer to what you were requesting in your prayer
About how do you know the Devil didn't send them.
As I said, you have to get involved in the spiritual practises, the fasting, the meditating, ...etc. and seek to attain spiritual discernment.
It's a strong form of intution.
I gave the example in my earlier post about how our vision changed as we went through puberty. Prior to puberty, we didn't 'notice' the opposite gender, but after we 'notice' them, and are strongly attracted to them. It is like that, you go through a change, where you instantly notice/feel things.
Even as adults we have a special type of this intution when it comes to finding a good partner, but Men usually don't pay too much attention to it. For example I'm sure you've often heard complaints from women, how a certain man gave them the creeps. It is like this kind of intutive feeling.
Not irrational or crazy at all...

Here is a Jim Gaffigan skit where he makes fun of holiday traditions.
One was the greeting card thing.
Aw, that one ended too soon..

Yea... this is definitely beyond rational debate.

I would think each board member donating $101 to FDR would be more likely to have a positive effect, rather than a 30 second ad that most people will not care about.
-
This is common.
"Yes my parents beat me, but they also fed me, clothed me and gave me shelter. Thus, they are good people."
"Sure Mandela ordered the killings of innocent people and was a violent terrorist, but he also worked to end apartheid and worked toward reconciliation. Thus, he is a good person."
In my book, ordering the killing of innocent people makes you an evil person no matter how many potentially good things you may do after the fact. You commit an evil that is almost impossible to make up for, and I can guarantee that Mandela did not try to provide restitution to the victims of his crimes.
All of the other stuff about his government running improperly or having bad policies is just icing on the cake. We know state is violence and thus the argument from effect on this is only to attempt to convince people who are not anarchists that he was bad at managing his farm.

I am not entirely sure what you are looking for by that post, however you may want to look at the thread in my signature to see if that gives you what you want.

thanks for the sites.i dont' know anyone in therapy.i wish more therapists listed on yelp for free reviews. understandably, they are protecdtive and not trusting of reviews. kind of like how amazon board members had anxiety over allowing free reviews on all products.I really do want to find one. Perhaps stef and christina is really the best you can find, considering the whole appraoch taken with family, and empiricism. they really are a blessed combo for the world, aren't they?
I do not know about Christina except that Stef is very fond of her and the podcasts she is in she has had some good insights.
Stef, on the other hand is not a therapist. He can bungee in and hit you with a big ball of truth to help you get past a sticking point (which can be incredibly useful) as well as help to apply philosophy to a confusing situation, but this is very different from a long-term therapeutic relationship with a trained professional.
I would definitely suggest going through the sites that cherapple offered. It can be a bit daunting, but even going through types of therapy that you are interested in and finding a therapist who specializes in the area you want to work on can be very useful. Cell them and talk and see how you feel, knock some more off. Set up free office visits with those ones, knock some more off, and then you should be able to narrow it down to at least a few quality options.

It may also be worthwhile to start gaming groups in the community. There are a lot of people (myself included) who would enjoy getting together with people in the community to play some kind of game online.
This makes me wonder how good an FDR League of Legends (or something) game would be...

Both. I'm referring to Jesus, the prince of peace, who said: "live by the sword, die by the sword...The meek shall inherit the earth." The commandment: Love thy neighbor. These are two pieces of advise consistent with NAP and which the U.S. people have violated throughout their history. The U.S. has continually built up a military and used it aggressively against other nations (via the CIA also) and whites have, and still do discriminated against minorities as a way to hold on to economic / social power and gain preferential status in the American society and court systems. Like all things, you can find bad things in the bible to justify bad, evil actions. The bible says. "Seek and you shall find." It's the gems of wisdom in the bible related to virtue, righteousness, and good that will direct those to a better society during anarchy. Those who try to invent a system for post-statism will inevitably re-create a statist system in time.

Matthew 5:17-18
17"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18"For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.…
Matthew 7:12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Romans 3:31Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.
It seems to me that Jesus didn't exactly overturn any of the Jewish law and teachings about warmongering, killing non-married virgins, witches, gay people and such but very much affirms it. Not to mention all of the murderous war that was committed by the Jewish people. He wants specifically to uphold the law.

It kind of brings up the idea of philosophical charades.
With great cards to act out! Some of the amazing topics include:
- The is/ought dichotomy
- Nihilism
- Existentialism
- Deism
- Free Will
- Determinism
- Empiricism
- Realism
- Dualism
- Hedonism
- Universally Preferable Behavior
- Absolutism
- Relativism
- Agnosticism
.... and many more!
What could be more fun and enjoyable than trying to explain infinite regression to your philosophy classmates using only gestures? I can't think of anything!
This is the next challenge for philosophers in debate as explaining UPB is so easy in speech, but now you are limited to only gestures!
Now, for a limited time, our infinite regression payment plan is half price for each turtle! Yes, it is turtles all the way down, but when the price is cut from $9.99 per turtle to $4.98 per turtle it will only cost you half as much!
There is a slim chance that this game does not exist and is somewhat proportional to the likelihood that the world does not exist and the odds that you are reading this advertisement currently. Legally, we are required to say this by our legal team which certainly does not exist.

yes, sahih muslim is not the Quran
again many scholars say it was an out-of-body experience
I'm not sure what you mean by point 2.
Can you elaborate specificially what aspect is contradictory to you?
God is consciousness without material form, which is a contradiction.
He is omnipotent and omniscient, a contradiction.
He is perfect and creates imperfect things, which is a contradiction.
God is good but kills millions.
God is omniscient and surprised.
I am sure there are many other such contradictions.
If you can, I would be interested to see how God is defined without any contradictions.

I did go through a similar experience. When you realize what a real relationship is, and then realize that none of your relationships qualify as real relationships, it can be a very difficult transition. Not because you are rejecting or isolating yourself, but because you realize how things actually are.
It can be confusing at times to make these life transitions, which is why it is better to go through it will a therapist's support, but you said this wasn't really possible for you right now.
I am very sorry that none of your friends and family made it through. That makes me very sad that you haven't had a relationship that was worth keeping.

I do think it is good to recognize things as they are. It affords you the time to make good and healthy relationships, which this step allows you the opportunity to meet those kinds of people.

I would appreciate a response to my post if you wouldn't mind. Thanks.

Joe is basically a reluctant statist, based on his podcast with Adam Kokesh. I suspect Stefan can make a much better case though, so I would like to see this discussion.
The Adam Kokesh podcast would be good prep for Stef (as well as interesting to FDR listeners).
If I remember correctly, Joe was pretty open to the ideas and was doing ok on things. A productive 3 hour show on his side. I think most of the negativity from the ideas came from Redban. It has certainly been a while since I listened, so I could be totally off, but that is how I remember it.

It means that this indicator is indicating that it will drop soon. Which bitcoin has dropped to 877 as I am typing this.
If you were a day trader, you would sell and buy back.
As a long-term investor, I will try to find a bottom and increase my position with slightly cheaper coins.
It means that the short term mania is ended and we will see what higher price bitcoin plans to settle at for a bit. Though, of course, anything could happen.

2 recommendations would be to work on a bit of an intro or outro. The video stopped a little suddenly for me. Maybe ask watchers how they can get into contact with you to leave feedback or what kind of math topics they would like to hear? I'm not sure how you want the show to be structured, but that's just an idea.
Also I would recommend not using super light yellow. It was very hard to see against the white.
Otherwise, it was a great video. I very much second what LovePrevails said about just doing them many many times and eventually you will get a ton better. Look forward to seeing more!
