what are some quotes from these feminists that don't have the same standards for men and for women? i'm just wondering,a few articles i have read by women, ( i don't know if they call themselves feminist), have called for clear definitions on consent and defining rape as sex without expressed consent. that would apply in a way to both. to that standard, if two people were drunk, the person who initiated sex would be the one considered to have commited the sexual assult
-
if saying "sober people are at less risk for injury than inebriated people" is blaming the victim, then i see nothing wrong with blaming the victim from a logical standpoint. interesting reading the comments from the article. i think the police are trying to protect people from common cases of sexual assult that happens in collage situations, not protect women from some seal team 6 gang rape home invasion, but commenters comment how women that don't do the party scene still get raped sometimes.

why does he call a donation out of charity?

the voluntary programs seem interesting. it sounds a bit more psychological when people would prefer sick pay to a larger paycheck or something though. maybe if the person got the sick pay in a bulk sum at the beginning of the year, then lower paychecks would be fine because that bulk could be invested. even getting unused sick-pay at the end of the year is worse for the employee overall than getting bigger paychecks, but it would be good for a employer to be able to keep such money and earn interest on it.

could you make like a pdf version, give it out on your website in exchange for emails, then build a list for future books?

search warrant vs modern slavery
cab21 replied to Laforge's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
if there are witnesses, why would there not be a strong case for a search warrant? a search warning is probable cause, not 100 certainty. -
since some mandatory earned sickpay proposals are being passed, it made me wonder about the concept of sick pay? now aren't people just getting a lower wage so that they can get "sick pay", which is going to be less than if the law was not there in the first place? i assume a employer has to both take money away from one place to put it in another, as well as take money away to pay the administration of such a system. it just seems both a employee and employer would be better off not having sick pay, because then the employee could take home more pay per hour and the employer would not have the added administrations costs. one that i saw gives 1 hour paid sick leave per 30 hours worked, so it just seems that a person working 30 hours at 100% and having 1 hour of unpaid sick time would be better for that person than working 30 hours at <100% and having 1 hour paid sick time and still making <100% of what they would have otherwise.

N95 masks are not effective in preventing Ebola transmission
cab21 replied to shirgall's topic in Current Events
i don't understand why in months of ebola there would not be a best practices formed and trained and equiped in hosbitals on how to deal with ebola? -
not everyone on a plane or in a country is a probaly ebola carryer. methods to identify who has it, is simular to methods to identify probaly death dealers with guns, and put them into a different catagory than the normal legal gun owner. http://www.ibtimes.com/gunshot-wounds-hospitalize-20-us-children-every-day-study-underlines-toll-gun-related-injuries now this gun control article has a few from the disease control article talks about accidental gunshot victims of people unwittenly and unwillinly shooting themselves or others. the article talks about how the gunshot wound would not have happened if there was no gun in the first place. children don't shoot themselves by accident if a parent does not take a gun into the home and if the parent does not secure the gun. the gun does not get to the child if not taken to where the child has access perhaps the equiv could be that it's better to control gun manufactoring than try and control guns once already out there being sold.
-
so after reading some articles of republican politicians calling for flight bans of flights from countries with ebola cases, it makes me curius about why there is such call for government control over flights, using the same arguments democrats seem to use for why there should be gun control. both use stuff like "anything to prevent death and protect american citizens". yet each seem to support the one and not the other, in opposites.
-
so this report from that wiki, has a report attributing the number 1 reason people fled was because of direct hostile operations against arab settlements.
-
plenty of proof that is wrong. plenty still with their ownership papers, but not allowed on the land isreal settlements are being made on land not bought, they are making a wall inside land they have not bought some land has been rightfully bought, other land has not. there have been settlements isreal originaly even said was illegal, then they made legal without any buying of the land taken over

what exactly is merit in a public school? this is not like some sales job, where we can measure productivity in sales. there can be standard testing, so what, teachers will want students with better demographics that test better? with public school, there is still compulsion, and lack of choice and the teacher selling students, with students just being assigned with a teacher or being mandated to take a class where there is only one teacher teaching the class. this is not like some free market private tutor, where pay is based on what people are willing to pay and demand, rather than any set "merit" or pay system based on tenur or whatever

people can have sex and get pregnant without entering any voluntary contracts. but if it is just deadbeat for violating a contract, sure that can be trackable. ok, but current family court systems are not by voluntary contracts, so there would be a shift in how people deal with such situations if given the choice. more planning and responsibility for people would work
-
how would you define deadbeat here? say the father wants to give the baby up for adoption, and the mother wants to keep the child, is the father a deadbeat if the father wants to not pay child support, or pay less child support than the mother wants the father to pay( where the money may or may not actually go to supporting the child)? socialized costs are only a function of a socialized system. for this a system of tracking and defining deadbeats needs to be established such a person might be less inclined to have insurance and more inclined for violent action in response to what they consider a violent action. say a person thinks abortion violates NAP, that could put them more in the thought process to respond with violence than receiving money. where is this order for child support coming from? it still seems people would rather put response to violation of nap where their mouth is than put money. making abortion a punishment more than money is something i think such people would go for.

U.S. Hikes Fee To Renounce Citizenship By 422%
cab21 replied to JSDev's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
it looks like the fee raise is simply from 450 to 2350, hardly something that will make it so "only the rich can leave". the 2350 is likely not much per hour of work the government has to put into this service wise, but the question is why does government mandate this service in the first place. -
can we try out the recipe's before buying the towels? i think that way, say a party could be done with all the recipe's, and then people can buy the towels of recipes they liked.

ill try to be a bit more on point with that comparison. with daycare being bad compared to a loving positive home environment, why are these exclusive? can't a person both go to daycare and have a loving and positive home environment, and a loving and positive daycare environment?
-
.a lot of people in the world just don't get good things. why would cost not be part of the equation of "good" and "in comparison"? higher quality food costs more than lower quality food and is more good. being malnourished costs more than being malnourished and is more good.
-
they do a "why" does not stop them. people in poverty have a high birthrate than people in better financial positions statisticly. how many households are feeding children without any workers anyway? say it's one parent that stays with the kid, the other one is working to feed all of them. that only people with a significant amount of savings for both to not earn incomes is something i don't think will happen soon.
-
if people put their children in daycare because otherwise they can't feed their children, then is it not relevant? the financial situation of a this family means they have to get revenue from somewhere, without using a daycare as a way to make revenue by taking advantage of oppurtunity cost and competitive advantage. i don't think bleach is comparable to a good daycare. bleach will kill a person if the person drinks bleach, a daycare won't kill a child. i'm not sure how good given milk to a child would be, there is mothers milk, but that only lasts so long till the child is weaned, but animal milk is not the same as giving good water or something else. if the family can't afford to buy either bleach or milk, they can't feed the child milk, and can't use bleach to clean up. so the financial comparison of survival mode vs thrive mode, in daycare or not in daycare matters because people put their children in daycare for reasons that include financial. if we are seeing a corralation between bad situations for kids and poverty, that is something that matters.
-
so how much would this loving positive homecare environment cost, compared to a good daycare?

can a negotiation be offensive?
cab21 replied to cab21's topic in Libertarianism, Anarchism and Economics
looking at the email showtime sent, it looks like a spam email. i doubt they looked at the guys work at all, likely just had a list and sent everyone on the list the same email. so it looks like the problem here was sending sort of a Nigerian prince spam email out there, and trying to make it look personal and respectful, when it was really impersonal and not respectful. in reality, i think the person would not have gotten a offer in the first place if showtime was just looking for a specific person to commission work from, and that would have saved the guy the time of reading a nonsense offer.
