*nods* That definitely sounds good! I think I could be a pretty good programmer, I might get into web development, But, Not for a while. It's not something I really care about, I'd probably just do a little exploration into it when I need to create a website for myself. If that ever comes, That is. I'll want to do things like, Work on netsukuku, Maybe make mods for games like Skyrim, Port things, Work on meshnets of all sorts, Maybe make some game. I do hold cross-platform as a necessity though, Everything I make I want to be cross-platform. ESPECIALLY to linux, That would probably receive priority. I'd probably first write Hello World, And then expand that into something which extracts your name, Then to a text parser. After that, I'd probably work on some sort of a simple game to learn more things, I'd work on GUI stuff, I'd probably work on a networking client to connect two computers, And share packets. I'd do very simple straight forward versions of what I will be actually focusing on for practise, It sounds good to me. From my research, I think C++ will be best, However, I am not sure. Others have advised me to use C#, But, I think that would require .NET/Mono, Which, I wouldn't really want to use, Really, I want to keep the additional installation to a minimum. Plus, I don't really like microsoft either, Anyway, What do you think?
-
Yesh, Thank you ^-^ Do any of you have any recomendations on how to learn C#?
-
Okay, Thank you all! But, Can you tell me a little more about the difference between C++ and C#? I know C is really old, So, Why is it even mentioned anymore? I don't know what I'll make, I plan on practising by making simple things, Like, Hello world, text parsers, Simple games, Etc. I do plan to work on the netsukuku project, Which runs on linux, And routers, It will need to be ported to mobile devices, Windows, And Mac though. Besides doing that, I don't see myself doing much on mobile devices. I might do that later, In which case, I'd learn a language for that. Do you, By any chance, Know which language would be apt for that?
-
I really want to learn to program, My biggest block has just been figuring out which language to actually use. I've heard a lot of bad things about java, I've heard a lot of limitations of python as far as games go. The only thing that I have found so far, That is powerful, Cross plateform, And able to do pretty much everything I'd want to do early on, And later on too. Is C, Now, I know there is C, C++ and C#, I am not entirely sure of the differences. I have done a little bit of research, And I think C++ is the best to go with. If you have any suggestions, or reading material, Please tell me, I don't want to get inmeshed into something which turns out to be a total waste of time. As in, I don't want to waste hours and hours of time learning all about one langauge which is not the right one.

I've been thinking about doing some virtual server/dedicated server hosting, I have a 2004 Desktop is 512 megabytes of RAM, 300 or so gigabytes of storage space, And a dual core 3.0 Ghz CPU. That can be on constantly, I use my actual desktop, Being, A 4.2 Ghz, Quad core, Eight gigabyte of RAM desktop, WIth 200+ space allocatable. This desktop could only be used on a scheduled basis, However. As I do wake up and use it.Although, I could run a virtual server on it while I use it, However, This would only be when I am not doing anything too resource intensive, Such as, Running games. I could run a minecraft server on these computers, Websites, What ever was desired. I could accept payment through bitcoins/litecoins/whatevercoin. I could probably accept paypal through my friend's account, Unless there is an alternative which doesn't require to know the exact structure of your iris. (A joke about how it requires a million forms of verification) What do you all think about the hard ware? Do you have any advice? I am really new to this.

My name is Valeska, nd I'm paranoid it isn't feminine enough, I think about other names like Jennifer nd Rebecca all of the time. I guess it might just be because I'm not used to slavic names because they aren't popular. But, I don't want a popular name, That is why I like mine, I dunno.

I use them all really, I am writting to you from windows though.

I can't remember this fantasy movie
Miss Valeska replied to Miss Valeska's topic in Reviews & Recommendations
Oh, Thank you -
There was a medieval fantasy film I remember from when I was little, I remember a scene with a naked man walking down a road. I don't remember what happened next exactly, But, At some point, There was a "game" or what ever it is called where two knights on horses knock each other off with a long pike. Nd they audience was singing "we will rock you" prior I think, Does anyone know the name?

I love Stef! He has the best insights and philosophical and physcological explainations! I think it would be EXTREMELY valuable to a LOT of people if he talked about other things he has really never talked about. Like, Transgender, Different sexualities like homosexuality, And other things too. Although, I really want him to read and ask about these things first. I don't want him to have any wrong ideas which could really hurt people.

Hmm, My friend can already do that though, He just has this really awful Power Mac G5. I tried installing Linux, I failed, I tried updating java past Java 5, I failed. Literally nothing works, All he can do is use a mega old version of skype, Teamviewer, And firefox. I think he can barely play flash games. Really, All that I want is, An old computer that can play minecraft on the lowest settings with mods like optifine to decrease them even more. I just want something that works well enough to play very simple games with him. I think the raspberry Pi can do that, But, If I can get a real desktop for him. That would be even better, Then it would be easier when he has enough money to build his own desktop, He could do it slowly and reuse some parts.

I did, I found very very few things.

Okay, So, I've been looking for a long time for an okayish computer that is either free, Or under seventy dollars for my friend. If anyone has anything like this, Or can find anything like this, Please please let us know. I have, So far, Determined from the dell auction website. That the Dell OptiPlex 780 is good enough for what we need. However, It's retail price is about two hundred and fifty dollars, Although, You can find it on auction for as low as twenty dollars. That price usually jumps though, If anyone has this computer specifically it would be greatly appreciated to buy or something like that. If anyone can find one, That would be really good too. If you can find or have anything free or under seventy dollars though, It would be greatly appreciated to look at it, Thank you for reading.

Can a mother board support multiple CPU types?
Miss Valeska replied to Miss Valeska's topic in Science & Technology
Okay, Because, My friend is thinking of buying a Dell OptiPlex 780/SDT, And it has an intel E8400 processor. He would slowly buy better parts for it, (More RAM, A Graphics Card, Etc.) However, Due to his income, He would have to buy the parts probably one at a time. So, If he were to buy a better mother board, He would need to put the original compents into it before he bought better ones. There are a far bit of AMD FX CPUs we both like, And he would probably buy one of these. But, Until then, He would need to use the intel CPU in the new mother board he would have purchased. (Along with a Graphics Card being this computer's GPU is intregrated, And probably a power supply as well being it's power supply is quite limited.) All of this would be a lot to buy at once, But then to have to buy a new CPU at the same time as well? That would be even worse, So, If it is possible, I would like to see if there are any mother boards which can remedy this. If there is another solution, I'd like to hear it, Thank you. -
I have searched for quite a while to find the mother board of the Dell OptiPlex 780/SDT, Core 2 Duo (E8400) But, I can't seem to find it for what ever reason. I've searched manuals, I've searched websites, I haven't found a thing. If you can find this, Please tell me the name, Thank you for reading.

I am wondering if a mother board could support multiple CPU types in some way? Such as, An AMD AM3+ FX CPU like my GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3, And an Intel E8400? I would assume not, but, I've heard of hybrid things before, So, I'm just putting it out there and hoping.
-
I have a GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3, I love it very much, It does nearly everything I need. However, It has one 16x PCI slot, And one 4x PCI slot. Which is not good enough for two Graphics Cards. What I would like, If possible, Is something as close as possible to this board. Along with two 16x PCI slots so I can use two Graphics Cards.

The meshnet Netsukuku is NOT dead, And is being revived! Netsukuku is a meshnet designed to make up for the inadiquences of the current internet. It is designed to have a bit more privacy than the current internet, For example, IP addresses do not have GPS data embedded in them. It is decentralised, With decentralised DNS. Registering a domain name is free, Great care taken to prevent censorship. And routing algorythms have been developed to avoid the so called "evil nodes" who would attempt to censor or restrict you in some way. On here, We might as well call them "statist nodes". And much much more, You can read about Netsukuku on the netsukuku website http://netsukuku.freaknet.org/ Though, Be aware, Except for the update section, The website is very very much out of date. As, The dev maintaining that website left long ago, And for various reasons, The website was not updated. Including the fact that netsukuku is hosted on another site, And a new website is in the progress of being built. https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/netsukuku/ https://lab.dyne.org/NewNetsukukuOrg Netsukuku wiki of sorts There has been a netsukuku sub-reddit created http://www.reddit.com/r/netsukuku/ A lot of Netsukuku talk goes on in there, And on the netsukuku mailing list, Which can be subscribed to from here. http://lists.dyne.org/mailman/listinfo/netsukuku For those of you not familiar with a mailing list, Basically, When you send an email to the mailing list, It is sent out to the subscribers of that mailing list. To which, They can reply, By sending an email to you, Or the mailing list. This way, Converstations about a certain topic can be productive, And documented. There is also a Netsukuku IRC on the freenode server, Which can be accessed through an IRC client, Or through the web IRC interface linked here. http://webchat.freenode.net/ SImply type in netsukuku for the channel, Along with the capacha and what ever you want your username to be, And you're in! If you have any suggestions, Or questions, Please message me, And or ask in the IRC, Mailing list, And or the sub-reddit. Thank you for reading.

No, They are not forms of gender dysphoria, And that isn't what gender dysphoria means. Gender dysphoria is a negitive feeling that is difficult to explain that trans people feel about their bodies prior to transitioning. Which basically consists of extreme pain. A man who likes to wear a dress is nothing like this, It is totally different. He just likes to wear a dress, And then there is something else, I forget the name, Transvestie maybe? And they wear dresses for sexual reasons. And then there is a girl, Who wears dresses, And just has the wrong genitals. Which is really quite a bit different. I just get tired of people feigning empathy for me, Even about things unrelated to me. I'll ask something like this, Or about anarchy, Or what ever, And they will be like, "Oh yeah! I totally understand! I love chaos too!" It's so annoying, And passive aggressive.
