  1. Experienced drug users don't have accidents. If he overdosed, then he almost certainly meant to do it. In which case, drugs were just the most convenient way out.
  2. I'm sure they already have a law for assault and battery or manslaughter. Why when you commit senseless violence against a baby does it need a specific law to prohibit it? The fact that it has to be said speaks for itself. Thanks for the post Michael, glad to know that this practice seems to be losing popularity.
  3. i'm in downstate Illinois, but I would drive to Chicago if a group of us got together. Let me know if this is going to happen again!

  5. The name of a particular theory or idea is irrelevant to the observations that have been made. These observations are measurable and can be found consistently throughout nature. For example, Darwin's observation of species mutation and selection, Hubble's measurement of the expanding universe, the COBE background radiation measurement, and radio isotope dating are all irrefutable, measurements that have been put through the rigor of testing that the scientific method demands. In supporting the BB, these observations were not sought out to prove it as such. It is important that children be exposed to the periodic table and the math needed to understand it. It is quite hard to understand these things without high-level math (calculus, etc), which many of us do not use, and therefore do not know. Also, if you never had chemistry, the periodic table probably never came up. However, we must understand the fundamentals of matter in so far as to say what exists and what does not. While it may be worrisome to take a bunch of often statist, atheist, scientists' word for it, math has no confirmation bias. Math is the most precise human language ever invented. If these observations can be shown mathematically, which they are, then you have to work with what is known. Go with the flow.
  6. This is the guy that i found out about "cryptohippie" from. I think it is his company. He wrote a piece in the dailyanarchist.com about internet privacy.
  7. This is beyond ridiculous, because it's true. This is why there is no hope for humans. This is just one of the many things the Church will give a blessing for. http://www.news-gazette.com/living/2013-09-30/blessing-pets-set-danville.html
  8. The video kept freezing (the audio was fine, as was the clock on youtube). It was funny to see the facial expressions of both stef and peter during those moments. Wow, the non-verbal effect of our emotions is difficult to mask, or separate their influence, from our presentation of an argument. Frustration between the speakers was in the air. Perhaps a whiteboard would help show logic flow and prevent having to go back over things. He needs to bring his sources too. I saw the usual trend toward changing definitions and failure of the conversation to follow a topic to a conclusion. Frustrating to listen to, maybe a moderator or timer would alot the time and control the topic.
  9. i have been looking into Paul Rosenburg's (he was at some speaking engagement where stef went once time) program suite for encryption called "cryptohippie". I saw a writeup he did on dailyanarchist.com. It's expensive to purchase, but gives you a solid vpn with exit nodes in panama and other countries with more privacy protections. Your phone and web connections will be gibberish to your isp. Since he is an entrepreneur who has personal leanings toward the libertarian/anarchist movement, it seems he could be trusted ethically for selling the real deal. I haven't committed to buying it yet, but i am leaning that way. What do you guys think? ..about this company and whether their is an even better option.
  10. As always South Park captured this perfectly in the mormon episode were they sang, "dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb" when they explained the religious stories. Later in the episode, John Smith's wife questions his story about it consistency and the music sings "smart, smart, smart, smart, smart". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu4y7x9LRyY
  11. "according to the intensity of the editing wars they generate" This means the number of times Winston at the ministry of truth (1984, Orwell) has to log in and change the wiki page with government double speak. Truth is always at war with illusion.
  12. Just try not to be the most recognized, "stand out" slave on the farm. The farmer will notice. Herd mentality will keep you off the farmers radar, so that you can enjoy as much freedom as they'll let you have. If you are perceived to be a problem with the herd, you will be put in a separate pen for closer control.
  13. Let this be a lesson that you are doing nothing to evil unless the evil gets pissed off about it. Ha good stuff, and good for him. Surprised the "blogger" wasn't ordered to be called a "leaker" to avoid whistle-blower sympathies. Unless you have some serious weight (politically, monetarily, influence, etc.) behind your name, it is best not to use or have a name online, especially when exposing the corrupt and well-established. Speaking freely must be done with caution because being branded an "extremist" shows they are scared.
  14. I have been down and out "clinically depressed" for some extremely long periods. You have to break the tailspin. He is my advice: 1. Keep communicating with people, pick up the phone, use your pc, friends, strangers, fdr whoever to talk talk talk, and talk some more. You are not alone so don't put yourself in a bubble of your own creation. Other people will break obsessive thought patterns and worries, and give you the necessary social stimulation to stay connected. 2. Take care of your health. Eliminate alcohol, drink water primarily, eat fresh nutritious foods. I understand the dishes pile and the way it can just grow to the point you give up on cooking. Make that a small goal of yours throughout the week (see next step) 3. Make extremely achieveable small life goals. I don't know how bad it has gotten, but you have to pick yourself up. Maybe promise to brush your teeth and shower each day. Comb your hair. Eventually, make a short 2-3 item daily list of goals, if you don't achieve them, its ok, you will. 4. Routine: Over time you can build those small milestones in self care toward a routine of hygine and orderliness. Hygine makes one naturally feel good. Orderliness can save you on some frustration when looking for items later, so that a stressed situation doesn't turn bad. 5. Get good (undrugged, undrinking) sleep. If you are not working now, set your routine as you have a day-job to get more prepared for entering the work-force again, or school etc. Give yourself a bedtime, cut down on naps, use relaxation techniques to work through stress. Best of luck, you will get through this, but it will not be easy. Don't get discouraged if you fail. Small goals, little successes, build a foundation for your emergence from this cocoon.

  16. Have you ever been told by a doctor that you have a chronic condition that will change your life from diagnosis going forth? it may affect your mobility, cognition, sight, etc, or other quality of your health and life negatively? Were you given a shorter life expectancy and/or increased physical burdens that made you consider how long you have? So much to do, never enough time. What about your kids? personal goals? Shoot me a message privately if you want a more intimate conversation about the topic. Many those who have had a loss need to know they are not alone. I would like to point out that personal loss of health, mentally and physically comes with age as our bodies wear out, are exposed to illnesses, injury etc., it is natural and it sucks to go through but so goes the arrow of life to death. As I remember, Stefan called it "the best cancer ever". Wow Stef, was he just trying to put a smiley on his face?! No, I know now that he felt it. It is that realism, that meaning to the meaningless, vivid-life, lucid dream one is in wear their life rushes through them and they feel a need for expression and a fulfillment of certain life goals, a need to self-improve. You take that look over your shoulder to scan the whole Maslow pyramid. Safety and security meme's for your family and wishes, memes to achieve self-actualization, and even if at all. Let me know what ya think.
