We have all been there, exiting Whole Foods and there is someone petitioning for you to sign something regarding Gay Rights, The Environment, or something else the U.S. government has destroyed for centuries. And the tool that they are going to use... You guessed it... THE GOVERNMENT! Yesterday, I was exiting whole foods and I got asked "Do you support gay rights?" "Yes, of course, but are you trying to get a new law passed?" "yes." "Well I certainly don't want any more of those! Thank you" ....then he says... "ENJOY YOUR PRIVILEGE" So... needless to say, I turned around engaged in a 5 minute debate of sorts.. Kind of fun, they are sitting ducks, so don't pick on them. But the reality is, any time you waste of theirs is time people aren't signing their petition to enact a new law, so it is time well spent. Btw, he was trying to get an anti-bullying law passed so that all public school teachers would be forced to offer an anti-bullying course, particularly for the lesbian and gay community. The first question I ask is "How long have you been in California?" "Ten years..." "Ok cool. And how long do you think insurance companies would have been recognized same-sex couples and certain hospitals would have allowed same-sex couples to visit each other in critical care, if it weren't for the laws that made it illegal in the State of California?" "Probably decades!" "Ok great... so now, you are telling me.. you are going to go to same exact people.. to ask for your rights back? With the same exact tool of democratic voting (democratic totalitarianism)." Long story short.. The product: "Uphold the rights of minorities!" Brought to you by the same people who gave you crowd sensations like: SlaveryJim Crow Laws 1,000,000 Dead Iraqi's The Prison Industrial Complex The War on Drugs The War on Terror Genocide of the Native Americans Followed by Welfare Enslavement NSA Spying National Debt Enslaving Future Generations Japanese Internment Camps Inflation Robbing The Lower Classes of Their Wealth The Suppression of Gay Rights "Ok, the government has done some bad thing IN THE PAST BUT without the government, minorities rights can't be protected!" The Truth: Without the government, you can not suppress the rights of minorities because you can not impose the oppressive views of the mob rule majority. During slavery, when run away slaves were caught, they were returned to their masters by the police. The police of course were paid for through taxation. Meaning slavery was subsidized by the government aka the tax payer. It also means, that every slave knew that if he did escape he would almost always be returned. This, of course, made it extremely unlikely for slaves to try to run. Now, imagine if the slave owner had to pay his OWN police force to be constantly roaming the land looking for run away slaves. It completely changes the business model and makes it entirely inefficient. And THIS the exact same system and people we are supposed to going to look for protection of the rights of minorities. Tell me how this blatant contradiction isn't the result of indoctrination and propaganda! As in, if there was ANYONE BESIDES THE GOVERNMENT with the same track record, would you even consider going to them for the protection of minorities rights? Let's say a few years ago, CHICK FILA and its affiliates singlehandedly caused the Japanese Internment Camps, but now they are under new management. Would you then willingly go to them to say, "Oh yeah, I know you guys kind of dropped the ball in the past. But we would really like gay marriage to be legalized, I know how good you are at helping the rights of minorities." At the end of the conversation, he says, "Well, I would continue this conversation, but I am trying to get people to sign up. So enjoy your PRIVILEGE!" (He has used that phrase several times in the conversation) So I stop. And loudly say. "EVERYONE LISTEN. This person is trying got get an ANTI BULLYING law passed, while constantly calling me "PRIVILEGED" in a derogatory axion, because I am a white male. And he assumes, I am not a minority. But the beauty of this is. I AM GAY. And he has not only jumped to conclusions about me based on my looks, he is bullying me based on those conclusions." I let him with a pretty funny expression on his face. Happy Anarching.

Hello! Just made a quick meme for all those posting about Kelly Thomas's obviously unbearable murder. Hopefully some of you will circulate this, or variations of it, and get people questing the fundamental reason this stuff happens. I had some other variations including the fact that if you expect a product to be good even when people go to jail for not paying for it, there is a fundamental misunderstanding in how you think about reality. The fact that you could go to jail for not buying something inherently means the product MUST be bad. Feel free to share it as you wish, I don't support I.P. ;-) Happy Anarching!

Hello! I am looking for some input on whether or not to get health insurance now that under Obamacare, all pre-existing conditions are covered. As I understand the law currently, all pre-existing conditions are covered meaning that if I get in a car accident, I could apply for health insurance and I MUST get accepted by an insurance company. At that point, I can run up a bill and not pay for it, but also not pay health insurance for any previous months leading up to the car accident. First of all, is that correct? Second of all, is the reason that I should get health insurance to protect me in the event that I get in a car wreck, end up in a coma, get rushed to the hospital where an expensive surgery is given to save my life (prior to being accepted for insurance). Of course, I could not apply for health insurance in between the car wreck and the surgery, as I am in a coma. I am pretty confident I could not apply for health insurance after the fact and expect whatever poor bastard insurance company that is forced to accept me to retroactively foot the bill that I ran up prior to applying. Is that correct? It is worth mentioning that I can afford health insurance as it is, just want to know if the system actually works like this. Also, I am well aware that no one really knows the answer as we currently have a supreme leader who uses executive power to create or change laws so there really is no concrete way of telling what will happen, but any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Wanted to follow up for anyone following this. I have spent a couple hours googling and managed to get this as a rough estimate, but it does seem logical enough. Homicide: Very, very rough estimate until I research this more fully: 8.5 million murders worldwide, 1900-1999. What I do know so far: Brazil: 350,000 murders in 1990s (24 Oct. 1999 Guardian) USA 1960-96: 666,160 murders and (non-negligent) manslaughters (Statistical Abstract of the United States, http://www.census.gov/statab/freq/98s0335.txt) USA 1900-59: 390,136 murders (Watenburg, The Statistical History of the United States, 1976) USA TOTAL: 1,056,296 (more or less -- depending on how you want to count manslaughters) 739,938 murders worldwide, 1986-90, excluding the USA (http://www.ifs.univie.ac.at/uncjin/mosaic/ccrimes/tothom.txt). The USA produced 12.5% of the world's murders during the years 1986-90, so if we apply that ratio to the entire century, then it would indicate that 7.35M murders were committed worldwide (but outside the US), 1900-96. It looks like the century total is somewhere near 1.05M in US + 7.35M elsewhere. Maybe this 8.5?M should be added to the wars and oppressions under the category of deaths "caused by fellow humans", above. If you want to do this, go ahead. Hello, I am discussing the statistical proof that when left to their own devices, it is not a "dog eat dog" world when people act in the private market and have to suffer consequences for their actions. Of course this is on contrast to a State, when people are able to use the state as tool to shield them from repercussions of ordering others to murder. I have seen statistics to show that State warfare caused 160 million deaths in the 20th century, and that the total deaths as a result of state power for the 20th century are closer to 220 million. I have also heard several times that the total number of murders in 20th century in the "the private market" (non-state) is closer to 8 Million. Can someone please source this statistic? Specifically "total numbers of murders in the 20th century" (that were not a function of state war) Thank you

Hello! First time posting to this forum! I have been studying Stef and other anarchist philosophers for several months now and wanted to discuss these principles with someone that didn't agree with the anarchist ideology but understood the principles of the free market. I scheduled a call with a loyal Ron Paul political activist that leads discussions and organizes rallies in Tennessee. Here is a link to download the debate. I would really appreciate some feedback on this debate as it was the first time I had said out loud many of these ideas. From the debate, I realized I need more practice several places... 1) Explaining that the size of the government doesn't matter, taxation is always immoral 2) More effectively explaining DRO systems 3) How contracts would be enforced without a central court system 4) "Law of Constant Dealings" and how it will plays a huge roll in people's decisions 5) The difference between the philosophical understanding of back-assward African countries and anarcho-capitalist societies. I definitely need practice, but that is why I am posting. Do me a favor and keep your criticism constructive, but let me know any and all things I need to work on. Much appreciated!
