I think it would be interesting if the guests to the show where announced in advanced and the members got to post questions for them to answer. Stef could then use the last minutes of the interview for this. The reason I say this is that maybe members are aware of certain things that the guests have done that are not being brought up. I couldn't help to notice, Dr Greger is just a year older than me, but I look 35 and he looks 50, genetics? Compare that picture to Mark Sisson who is 63 years old. Just do a quick search for his pictures In the end one has to decide for oneself which is the way to go. I see numbers and facts from both sides of the meat/no meat crowd. I have chosen the mark approach and I am happy with the results on both look and feel. I would be more interested in studies comparing a plant diet to a paleo type diet. since I think that anything compared to average american diet will have huge results. Only time will tell. X said she would run over cyclists Y said X was joking You tried comparing X comments to your first comment, Z did not agree. Who is smart in this whole exchange? Because you made a comment that directly puts into question someones intelligence. but do you have any evidence? How wise is it for me to tell someone at the office X is smarter than all of you? Do you have their IQ scores? Even then, all you can probably say is"X scored higher that Y" I think the smart thing to do is no to jump to conclusions and label people in you place of employment. You might question a statement "The comment is incorrect because...." but calling people names will not be a smart move in my opinion. I don't see it that way because one is addressing the public in general and the other personal relationships. But lets look at the first Carlin video that came up on my search 2 minutes in an Carlin is already lying. "no wonder we can't get anything done" in fact people laugh because everyone knows its not true. and yes a comedian is held to a different standard than a judge or a lawyer, or a police officer. Does a magician tell you the truth? is that a real egg on his mouth? Does he act with integrity as he is manipulating you so you don't see how he does his tricks?

Thanks for your comments. I agree that "ordinary" people might use humor to manage anxiety. But a professional comedian I don't see the same way, as they use humor to convey truths in an indirect way.

I don't think this is serious at all. its a way to drive a point. Reminds me too much of Pascal's wager because by posting this he is telling others that the reason he is voting for Hillary is safety. while still believing on what he claims will get him killed "trumps skills" I think its a witty way to state truth with humor.

Your thoughts are understandable. Should the parents of this child be financially responsible for the cost of the gorilla? is the Zoo partially responsible for not having a child proof enclosure? I think that there should have been some kind of barrier to at least make if difficult for a child to get inside. I also think that the parents should pay for some of the cost of the animal. What do you all think?

I'm no expert, but wouldn't that be treating the symptoms instead of the cause? Is this what your doctor recommended? What is the prognosis in this case? will you produce a normal amount of hormones after the treatment or will you be on this treatment for life? Thanks in advance and I wish you he best.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I'm for the natural way myself but to each their own. I don't trust foreign substances in a complex system like a human body. too many things can go out of wack. To me this seems like the easy way out, not unlike liposuction for reducing fat etc. Too many people take the easy road and they find themselves "finding their destiny on the road they take to avoid it" I too have a desk job. but that has not stop me from staying active. Playing sports, biking, etc every chance I get. (Yes that means no time for TV. so what. I go to the gym on my lunch break (yes that means no socializing with coworkers or dining out with them. You didn;t mention your diet, thats another area that I take ownership for. SO I'm missing out on a lot of junk food, oh well. So to conclude. I would be pleased with an objective description of the video, e.g. "This video provides arguments of why Trump will win against Hillary" At least that's what I look for, I tend to ignore the subjective wording unless is someone I respect and trust. I do agree that just a link is at least for me an invitation to ignore it. The same happens in the chat and I find myself not clicking (I've been Rick Rolled one too many times ) .

I fail to see the big deal with public bathrooms. I have never seen someones genitalia in a public bathroom. You see more skin at a public beach. For all practical purposes bathrooms could be unisex. When I walk into a men's bathroom I see men facing the urinals washing their hands etc. A woman could walk right in do her business on the toilet and walk out. no big deal. It will take mature respectful people on both sides to not get disrespectful but in a few hundred years of peaceful parenting it could be accomplished. Long lines at the women's bathrooms will be a thing of the past.

Can you explain how one could determine a false claim from a real one? How exactly does this bullshit detector work? You assume that giving money will "help" someone. Do you consider a short term solution at the expense of a long term solution "help"? Is this "help" you think you are providing more about meeting a need you have rather than really ensuring your charity is put to good use? I sometimes encounter beggars on the streets. Is giving them money going to help them? I always wonder if they are going to take that money and spend it on beer or drugs, is that really helping? Even if they spend it on food...that's a short term fix. how do they get off the streets and integrate into society? should they buy a rake and trade labor for money instead of begging? I had a friend that would ask me for money once in a while, a few hundred here a few thousands there. for mortgage, car payment, some issue with the house...he would pay it back in a few months then ask again, in the meantime he would take vacations with the family and buy fancy stuff for the house...Wife even got a boob job. I would find out all this by a third party, he was not being honest with me at all when it came to what he needed the money for or what he did with it. Was I helping him? His issues seemed true to me, but somehow you think I could have detected the bullshit? this was face to face and over the phone convos...tone of voice maybe? length of silence? And you claim to be able to detect lies on a written form? used of capital letters? to many long words? I don't pretend that I can beat a bullshitter at his bullshit when this is what they do for a living. If God exists and he is not intervening to correct any of this then isn't it like he didn't existed at all. You have not way to sort out what his God really wants from you now that his words are corrupted. Ask yourself this: What would it look like if people invented a God? Would the sacred texts be filled with inconsistencies? would this God be similar to the many other Gods people have created? Would the knowledge of this God be localized tot he region that invented it? Compare the many religions humans have believed throughout history. why is one of the religion of today any different? what would people 2000 years from now think of the religions of today?

How about the use of the military to procure and protect foreign oil fields? Could that be considered a subsidy? It seems that on one hand the government increases the costs so much using regulations that I don't know once you average out these costs with benefits like the ones I mention that it can be considered a net subsidy. Most likely all companies operate at an increased cost due to government regardless whether they get handouts or not. Like a bully going around the school taking arbitrarily amounts of lunch money then arbitrarily giving some amount back. Just because Bobby was subsidized he could still be a net loser compared to Tim. Its easy to see the final subsidy but the hidden costs of the coercion are harder to quantify.
