  1. There's nothing wrong with voting as long as you understand that you're voting in order to express your opinion, not change the results of an election. I would consider it very un-libertarian to vote in order to bring about change for two reasons: 1. You're being Borromir and trying to use the ring to achieve good. 2. Your vote is completely and totally useless and will not change the results of the election even if you voted in 10,000,000 elections. Again though, if you're voting for personal expression, no one can criticize you.
  2. That video by Molyneux was what pushed me to accept his views on voting over Walter Block's. While Block has always supported a mainstream candidate (Obama in 08 and 12, Trump this year), Molyneux told us that not even Ron Paul could bring about change. I still believe what he said that day even if Molyneux himself no longer does. The arguments I've seen for voting such as "we need another generation to spread our message" are, in my opinion, no different than when conservatives have said that Obama is the antichrist and will set up a dictatorship. They're exaggerations. Nothing will change significantly no matter who you vote for. The system's setup that way. Keep up the good work. Some of us appreciate those who speak up against the majority. I, for one, don't have a problem with those who vote, I simply find that my conscience is more clear by abstaining.
  3. People say that after every election, and it's completely ridiculous. I remember in 2004, democrats said that if Bush gets another term, it'll be the last election. Republicans definitely said the same thing in 2012. The reality is that "business as usual" will prevail regardless of who wins.
  4. Yes. It was originally thought that Moses wrote everything in Genesis, but that's not the leading belief anymore. Most believe the documentary hypothesis which states that the first 5 books of the Bible were written much later by several different sources. Most Christians, however, still believe Moses wrote all 5 books. When it comes to contradictions, Pete Enns has a really good book called, "The Bible Tells Me So". He's a Christian but argues that it's natural for there to be contradictions since the Bible is written by various writers at different points in history. Also, it's not as if God took their hand and started writing. They were writing from their perspective, and they're human.
  5. The Christian idea that the second coming in the end of times will occur in the Middle East is a very controversial idea in Christianity. The latest poll I could find showed that 65% of Christians believe in a second coming/antichrist/1000 year reign. That's actually higher than I thought it would be. In my experience, this belief is the "default" belief, but most educated Christians actually reject it. Still though, even Christians who reject it are very pro-war. In my opinion, it's because they let their sense of patriotism outweigh the message of peace presented by Jesus. There are a growing number of Christians who are anti-war.
