Hello, I recently started a cryptography company. We can't talk about the details right now, but we are looking for a very talented and versatile artist who can draw everything from icons to logos to mascots. The job will require someone who has a very unique and distinct art style. We want all of our logos to be timeless, not trendy. This isn't a one time gig, but rather a very long term job (5+ years). Regardless of who or what decides whether force is justified or not, just tell me:If I repeatedly call you a "fucktard" or a "ball-less piece of dung," do you think you are justified in beating me up? And why?

If verbal abuse is a violation of NAP, that necessarily entails that you are allowed to use force against people who spew out insults.@anyone who thinks verbal abuse violates the NAP: Are you justified in beating up/arresting someone who has verbally aggressed you?

There is the concept of reasonable threat. For example, if I raise my fist, is it a threat? What if my fist is heading towards you? What if I am an inch away from you, etc... Aggression is a continuum problem. Likewise, if you have reasonable suspicion that verbal aggression will lead to physical aggression, then sure, it is a violation of the NAP. ---However, if you are being verbally aggressed by someone you know cannot physically aggress you (IE a paraplegic in a wheelchair) then it is never a violation of the NAP. Here are some problems with counting verbal aggression as a violation of NAP: 1. Violations of the NAP are moral ground for the use of force:You can tackle a shoplifter, and pry a stolen bottle of rum from his hands. You can shoot a rapist. However, whether you can use any force against someone who has called you an arse is very questionable.2. A slippery slope that endangers freedom of speech:As Walter Block says, its no crime to yell "Fire" in a crowded theater. It is a crime if the theater's owner says it is. That said, banning any kind of speech is a very slippery slope that can be used for great evil.3. It is harder to define verbal aggression than it is to define physical aggression:To a devout (IE fanatic) Christian, a rational and non-confrontational presentation of atheism might appear as aggression. On the other hand, to a vocal anarchist who has a very thick skin like me, insults are commonplace and affect me very little (because they generally come from clueless people).---Just because something is stupid, evil, and aggressive doesn't mean it violates the NAP.

Have you considered moderation? I used to smoke weed every day, and tried quitting cold turkey. I failed. Instead, I decided that I'd only allow myself to smoke weed on special occasions/Saturday afternoons. This system has worked pretty well for me.

Thanks a whole lots.---My plan always has been to leave the US. From what I've seen, people are as stupid no matter where you go. However, outside the US, I'll at least always have the excuse of being weird because I'm a foreigner.---The day after I met this post I met two or three fascinating people, all of whom share my feelings about college and are interested in collaborating to start a business.---I've met lots of fascinating people at conferences, conventions, etc...

Economics. I really love econ, but Im far less productive being spoon fed tidbits than just reading a dozen books on my own.--- I won't say where Im going, but its one of the top econ Schools in the country.---Starting a business looks more appealing day by day. I'll read a couple books on business and follow through with one of several ideas I have.--- What I'm worried about is that I wont have that wretched piece of paper which will allow me to seek employment. If my business fails, then I'm screwed. But on the other hand, going to college to be surrounded by idiots for four years (when the economy will have further deteriorated) and work at Starbucks seems even more hellish.

This is just a rant I had to put out, but didn't know where else to post. Sorry in advance.---I spent the last two years of my high school self-schooled. Government high school was a traumatizing experience where nobody had anything to say. Luckily I got myself expelled, and basically spent the last two years living a solitary life of study. Being almost completely isolated from the outside world was torture, but Mises, Rothbard, Ray Kurzweil, and Chris Hedges kept me company through their books. I hardly left my room; I'll I'd do was chain smoke (marijuana) and read a book a day. At least I wasn't surrounded by people who would reprimand me for my beliefs...---I will socialize in college. I will meet smart people. Well read communists who will challenge my beliefs. Christians who will challenge my atheism. Libertarians who will agree with me. Professors who will discuss metaphysics. I quit smoking. I exercised to be at my physical best. I practiced math and economics to make sure I'd have an easy time in class.---Its been two weeks and I can now say college sucks. All anyone has to talk about is sports, cars, television, and binge drinking. I'm depressed. I've started skipping class, staying in bed all day. I don't want anything to do with the stupid people outside my dorm room. For the first time in several years, thoughts of suicide creep into my head.---I'm thinking about dropping out and starting a business. Two weeks and I've never been this depressed in my life. If I stay in college, I will wither away...---Thanks for reading. I haven't ever shared any of my feelings with anyone either online or in person in years. I hope I didn't come off as boring. BTW I don't think Im suicidal. I understand, as an atheist, that there is nothing but life.

As long as transhumans don't violate NAP, what's the problem? --- IE You mention antibacterial drug resistance as an externality. So what? Externalities still don't violate NAP.

What do you guys think of transhumanism/the technological singularity? Good job! I especially like the picture of the two kids with the rifles hitting each other.Ideas:-Try going to a karate studio. I work at one, and children are mistreated (im quitting my job)-A kid on a leash would be an obvious addition to the collection -Try going to a restaurant, you might find an adult ignoring a kid, busy on her phone-If you go to a toystore you might find highly possessive children

Whatever you do, don't call CPS unless you want that kid to be molested, drugged, and even more violently abused. But why didn't you confront her? Or if you didn't, do you know where you may find her to do so?
