Rational question. What happened to the three black boxes from the planes on 9/11? They are virtually indestructible and have a built in homing device. Seems like a logical question any curious human being might ask. What are the odds that all three could not be found? Assuming then that a government agency has had them for the last 12 years, why the lies? Is it as simple as secrecy? Just curious...

I hope all goes well with your medical and personal issues.

Well done gentlemen! -
What three simple words best describe your approach to life? THINK QUESTION ACT. I try to think in a clear and precise manner, question everyone and everything then act on the evidence.

Curious if you remain in touch with your first love. I realize the complexities involved but it's such a unique emotional experience and can by definition only happen once in a lifetime. I suppose as people grow and mature it simply becomes a distant memory no matter how vivid. I've been unsuccessful but it would be interesting to just say hello. Maybe a certain bond could still exist or would it feel more like the awkwardness of two strangers meeting for the first time. What do you think? Thanks...

My 10 year old nephew asked me if he should trust people who lie to him. I said no and began thinking of a nuanced response. He smiled then asked if I ever lied. He got me. Said he had watched a Molyneax video. We discussed Stefan's site last week. He then said should he have said his sister looked fat in her new dress when she inquired. I did not have a satisfying response. Ideas please. Thank you

Good point. How about this. It takes little time to conceive (create) a baby but it might take 90 years before that person has enough destruction and his body dies.

Being interested in physics, one example comes to mind. The explosion of a star more than 25 times the mass of our sun is a supernova. The outward propagating shockwave travelling a significant fraction the speed of light literally creates uranium along with other heavy elements. The half-life of an isotope of uranium (U-238) is 4.5 billion years. That means that it will take 4.5 billion years for half of a given amount of uranium-238 to decay. I realize this is a rather odd reply on a philosophy based forum.

Differences between female and male inmates in prison
GOLDENICE replied to GOLDENICE's topic in General Messages
The ultimate goal of many of the inmates was the same - personal gain. The gender difference was how they approached the task. Of course it's a generalization and oversimplification but an interesting learning experience for a young person recently out of college. I was relatively easy prey at first particularly from the so called 'white collar criminals". One man was quite charming and articulate with an Ivy League education. I let my guard down for a second and found myself in a potentially very dangerous situation. It was also challenging not to be intimidated by large well muscled men who gained stature within the prison population using violence. I had to hide my fear maintain eye contact and have structure in the classroom. Respect had to be earned or it was chaos. In a sense it was their world. I got to go home at the end of the day. However if I met him outside of the prison gates I would run for my life... -
I worked for years in both women's and men's prisons as a teacher. For the most part civilians are viewed as prey. Your befriended for what you can give them be it drugs, money food, etc. Often the men tried to get personal information to then use against you with threats. I know you live and know people on the outside. They threaten and demand something in return. Women tended to try and use sex by offering tricks. Often trying to get you to say something and have it on tape to use against you. I won't ramble on but it was an interesting experience.

Chris Hedges was a war correspondent for the New York Times for almost two decades. He put himself in dangerous places like Bosnia, Nicaragua, Iraq to name a few. Very bright and eloquent man. Read all of is books which were truly life changing!

Am I the only person who enjoys Russell Brand's comedy as well as his passionate outrage at the current politics? He's not a deep thinker offering structured solutions but certainly stirs the pot. Whenever I mention his name online a vast majority of people leave emotionally negative comments. He appears to rub people the wrong way. Can someone explain why? Thanks

Justice seems to change as societies develop. More tribal in nature rather than individual unless an autocratic leader. Would like other opinions please. Thanks
