  1. Not all wars have had a religious cause to them. This worked more as a facade in order to cover up the natural tendencies to overtake other states due to exclusive economical reasons. If we need more to consume, we need more places from where to pick our goodies from, whether food, geographical rarities or geostrategical landmarks. If we need more places we need more wars. If we need a good excuse, let's make it about religion, since it's been the opiate of the masses and nobody wanted to get off it. Just like TV these days. If God said then it's God's will. If TV said it's TV's will and both never lie.
  2. The point we are at today in terms of technology and societal advancement is due to human industrial activity. If global warming is the result of human industrial activity then we have to accept it, however, spilling oil into the ocean and massive pollution i general in order to maximize profit is a hallmark of capitalism. Not that I advocate a somewhat better type of ideology, but shooting yourself in the foot and then screaming "Aaaaa!" is kind of silly.
  3. In a world where the Internet, a vast array of data and info, could and is regulated you can most certainly be sure that everything can be.
  4. It is common sense that says a religious man or woman does not commit certain acts, whether or not of illegal nature, due to an implicit moral interdiction which comes from believing in God or gods, but that does not make sense when you put two and two together and take into account religious people commiting crimes. There is no basis for religiously-driven evolution of society in the sense that the teaching have stayed the same, but society advanced. Societal changes are due to Science and Technology and ,in extremis, philosophy's. Overall, human interaction has improved ,again, preponderantly due to the last 3. It is unquestionable that religious zealotism, along with it's self-imposed impoverishment would have crippled the entire society. Atheism has nothing to do with decadence. It is admirable, but It would be decadent for one's self if one's morality depended on not taking into account others. I.E. "God said that" , "God said this" , but without a clear frame of reference, this is inflexible and potentially harmful to others.
