  1. Thank you for the suggestions! In regards to journaling I am not really sure what he meant when he mentioned it, that's why I was asking may be for a book about what is journaling and how to do it or something like that, I am not really sure to be honest.
  2. Hello! So I would like to find a good therapist to talk and I have a major question in my mind. Male or Female ? I am a 28 year old man. I am from a country that, to put it lightly, is not on the forefront of psychology (Bulgaria). We have 1 male psychologist for every 15-20 female psychologist, probably because it doesn't pay to well or there is social stigma or whatever. I've been thinking about male or female therapist, because I feel like a man can understand my perspective on my issues and give me more accurate feedback and also I've never been too close with my father, so a bit of masculine mindset won't hurt, right. Also I've felt the need to look for a male role model all my life, so that's that... So with that in mind, would I really benefit more from a male therapist than a female one ? Is there a difference at all ? Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Hello! I've been going through some rough stuff for a long time and I'm starting to want to get better. I've listened to a looot of conversations of Stefan's and sometimes he tells his interlocutor about workbooks and journaling, but haven't heard of any particular books, so I would like to ask for some suggestions of good ones ? Also I've thought about calling in the show, but I live on the other side of the world almost (Bulgaria) so timezones and such, and also I'm nervous about my English speaking skills to be honest (I write, read, listen to and understand English perfectly, but when it comes to verbally expressing thoughts in English, it just doesn't work too well). Not that it matters to the question above, just wanted to get it off my shoulders.
  4. How about: 1. They are both collectivist in nature (you are not good/moral unless you adhere to OUR tenets) 2. Value altruism over all (sacrifice of Christ vs. sacrifice of individuality) 3. Claim to have an idea of "the greater good" (God's will vs. Marx's will) 4. Dislike of wealthy individuals (Jesus and the rich young man vs. Redistribution) 5. Both condemn murder and at the same time violate that commandment under certain conditions i.e. DONT MURDER unless it is for God or DONT MURDER unless it is for the greater good. I think Marxism clashes with religion, exactly because they are so similar in nature i.e. can you be a Christian under Socialism vs. can you be a Christian under Capitalism.
  5. What are the most prominent similarities between those two ideologies ?
  6. You mean all the time even when I'm alone or philosophically ? Joking aside, I surely see individuals.
  7. - yes - what do you mean by "common lowest denominator" ? Why would the collective care about personal freedom ? - as in always leading to authoritarian state of affairs (same way communism would always lead to the gulags), since reason & evidence is not and may be couldn't be universally accepted and understood p.s. I think the thing about communism I mentioned could be taken as example
  8. Taking in consideration the reality of human nature, would it be accurate to say that collectivism is inherently authoritarian ?
