Hello everyone! I hoping there are others like myself who are philosophical, but also having a history of addiction. I would imagine there are a few of us so I thought I would put some of my info out here to you guys. I have an addiction blog where I write about my daily recovery and I also advocate many of the principles found here. I hope to build a network of thinkers who also have fought addiction in their pasts. A little about me- I am sober from heroin for about 7 years and other (Rx) drugs since Feb 1, 2012. I live in Utah and I am 36 years old. My father and I started writing a book that detailed my decade long battle with heroin and homelessness and when we got to the last chapter of the book, my father became ill with Amyloidosis. It took his life before we could publish the book. The writing of the book was pre-FDR and I never had the chance to speak with my dad about my childhood concerns. I have tried talking with my mother but it has not gone very well. Regardless, our book will be published in a month or 2 and is called A Walk in His Shoes. I hope this post isn't too out of place. It is my first post so I hope it is in the right place. If any of you are interested in more of my story, please check out www.jdusty45.wordpress.com Let me know if any of you are interested in further discussion about addiction/philosophy. Thanks everyone. Dustin J.
