Stefan's video 2564 is about how Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty got suspended for making biblical supported comments about gays. Stefan knows the bible so my blog isn't challenging him. I just don't want people on fence about Christianity to turn away just because of one redneck's comments. I, for one, ignore violent, hateful, murdering passages from the bible, like "an eye for an eye." Leviticus goes way back to ancient times of Moses. I do offer some political ramifications that are the real factors in his suspension. A&E, the channel that pays for the program, is a statist corporation (Hearst & Disney.) Statist corporations, especially in the entertainment business, are often run by and owned by gay people. Gay people can dedicate and devote a lot of hours to work; thus they are rich and materially successful. In a redneck show like "Duck Dynasty", the target market are ignorant redneck statists who wave the flag and depend on government handouts or paychecks. It would be logical to make a redneck biblical comment to appease your audience, a perfect "duck call" so to speak to attract the flock. A popular one is gay bashing. Stefan said he won't accept sponsors because it would censor and compromise the FDR content for the sake of maintaining a target audience for vendors. I agree. I don't think Phil's suspension would be long. If it didn't relate to unwittingly making a comment that insulted the boss(es), then maybe it was even a part of publicity stunt to promote the show. For me, I'm not part of the Duck demographics. I work long hours and spend any free leisure hours I have listening to FDR, writing blogs on FDR, and doing house and car repairs. I would have preferred if this Southern Christian character Phil would have really shown some backbone and faced the lions by bashing the U.S. military for all the murdering it has done in the Middle East from a "Thou Shall not Kill" quote. But that would never happen given Duck is a statist supported program.
