Inertia is defined by dictionary.search.yahoo.com as: The tendency of a body to resist acceleration; the tendency of a body at rest to remain at rest or of a body in straight line motion to stay in motion in a straight line unless acted on by an outside force. I like this definition, especially if you think of the body as a human body. If an inanimate object like a rock could think, it would recognize its purpose as being stationary, the larger and heavier, the more stationary. The rock would then recognize it could contribute value to the world as a piece in a retaining wall or as blockage to the tomb of Jesus that would take a spiritual miracle to move. Humans are governed by the law of inertia. Each person has a purpose in life (know thy self is power) and God gave a purpose to each individual and would like to see that purpose fulfillment in their lifetime. Therapy is a way for some to define one's purpose and self. Hardship in life and its consequences is God's plan to prepare one to receive their calling in life that is their service to him. A couch potato who hasn't discovered ones self and has a list of New Year's resolutions, will be a "body at rest to remain at rest." One who has defined one's self and is acting upon that calling is a body "in straight line motion to stay in motion in a straight line." God will shower blessings and miracles upon those on that trajectory. Water running downstream is an example of this type of inertia. It resists being impeded or stopped altogether. Just like a man possessed or on a mission who will stop at nothing to fulfill his vision or purpose. So atheist and the religious, if you lack motivation or are a habitual procrastinator, the physical laws of nature has an answer for you
