  1. When I see someone with a tattoo, I wonder if they thought of the long term when they got it. I wonder what their capacity was to understand the long term was when they got that tattoo? I think that by definition, to get a tattoo means to destroy cells somewhere on someone's body to replace it with something "better." I do not think this is a moral question, but a question of functionality and evaluation of compatibility between myself and other people. I am a single male, 25, who is trying to see the virtue through the boobs. I want to know, and come to understand what causes such a degree of self destruction, and I imagine that all the people around were condoning you doing it to some degree, or are the specific reason that you regretfully had so much pain, from a bad choice that you chose. It may come off as judgmental, and it certainly isn't a moral argument, or even a moral question to be sure. I apologize if this seems offensive, as I'm sure it will. I really think this is an important question, and shows us that we should pay attention to what we see, to empirical facts, reason, logic and evidence of behavior. This is just my thoughts and I would love to be shown I'm wrong. Don't give me the exceptions though, I want to know if you think I should not pay attention to this symbol that they have created, this idea that was so powerful they needed it on their body. I want to understand the air that they breathe, that is if they are the mother of my children.
  2. Hello everybody! I have recently discovered this book browsing through amazon because of my interest in nutrition. I was definitely not expecting its content. Basically, the author Dr. Campbell advocates a WFPB (Whole food plant-based) diet. I haven't gotten into his prior book "The China Study" but essentially he describes that consuming animal meat and dairy is correlated to the development of cancer in the body. He also contends that eating said meat and dairy is also linked to other fatal diseases such as stroke and heart disease. He also commits to saying that the medical community is focused more on reaction than prevention, That we need to take a "wholistic" approach to the problem and that approach is to radically change our diet. Dr. Campbell proceeds to provide evidence that during his research, he observed that when rats were injected with a cancer causing compound and were given a consistent 20% animal protein, the cancer proliferated. In contrast to the rats that were given a dramatically lower concentration of 5% protein the cancer appeared to have stopped and some even reversed in nature! He continues to go into the science behind it all, but that is the main point. The WFPB diet has also been tested on humans and it has shown to stop cancer! This is just astonishing and astounding and i'm surprised I haven't heard about this until now. Aside from that, i'm having thoughts on becoming vegan/vegetarian now. I heard that there are plenty of salutary effects it has on the individual. There are definitely a lot of essential nutrients i'm missing out on from skipping out on my brocoli, beans and nuts. The book also goes into a myriad of subjects such as DNA, enzymes, reductionist philosophy, the scientific method, etc. It's a mind blowing read; would highly recommend to you all.
  3. I have just watched an interesting documentary about the maltreatment Australian natives receive, even now, from the Australian [white] government and society. Utopia (2013) by John Pilger https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UtnKwvi-TzY This is, of course, masked under lies, coercion, and legislation. The natives seem unable to resist all that is happening, and, naturally, suicide and self-harm are extremely common, within their tiny communities. This leads me to my question; a question I have been pondering and examining, for some years, but without avail. And so, I ask you... In the face of those who devote their lives to harm and violence, to amassing weapons and shields, and who dwell in lies and the ruthless manipulation of others; what can a community [or group] of good people do? In other words, how can such a conflict be resolved, even temporarily, when confronted with those who dedicate their lives to destruction? Will it come down to better and smarter weaponry? And better and smarter shields? Or will there be no immediate solution, and rather, all of us who are currently alive, must suffer the fascists, and only attempt to "save the future"?
  4. https://www.childwelfare.gov/preventing/preventionmonth/about/ About:National Child Abuse Prevention Month is a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families. During the month of April and throughout the year, communities are encouraged to share child abuse and neglect prevention awareness strategies and activities and promote prevention across the country. Although I am wary of government programs or initiatives I think this is a positive one that tackles the root cause of many of societies problems.
