I am a music lover and I love high-end stereo. I also prefer older technology such as turntables and tubes. To me CD's don't even come close to a good truntable and 200gm vinyl. There's something about the smell of hot transformers and tubes that makes me all weak and fuzzy inside. I associate the smell with music I love. Unfortunately I can't afford the level of technology I really 'goosepimple' over. 100k, in current monetary terms, is the neighborhood I like to start at. My current system, though impressive to the regular high-end ipod listener, it is barely reasonable to me. Anyway.....
I was watching a movie the other night called "Looper" and there was a scene where the main character in the future was playing an LP on a fastenating turntable I had never seen before. I went out on the web and found it. It's call a JA Michell Gyro SE Turntable. The site even has a video of it in operation. How cool is that?! Though my Rega 3 is decent, this turntable is really cool to watch..it's mesmerizing. But with the tonearm and accesories at about 8k, it's out of my reach. However....
Like Stefan, I do take donations....
