A  long time ago in a universe far, far away....

There is an ancient podcast of a live debate dealing with freewill/determinism. I'm pretty sure this was pre-UPB content. Stef said something that stuck with me for a long time: free will is earned. The offhanded comment may no longer compatible with UPB theory (seems like it may be more on the compatiblist side of the debate), but something about it struck me as quite profound. I think what Stef was getting at was in order to be free we have to turn inward and examine our psychological makeup. We have to understand our own history to escape the determinism of our past, for lack of better words.

This may all be meaningless now and I could be completely off base. If Stef has more thoughts on this I'd love to hear it.

It's not meaningless if you are thinking about it. Why does it matter if Stef talked about it before?
