MrCapitalism Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 THIS FILM IS DEDICATED TO OUR POST-9/11 VETERANSWITH GRATITUDE FOR THEIR INSPIRED SERVICE ABROADAND CONTINUED LEADERSHIP AT HOME. Uhhh.... a dude attempts to go to war under false pretenses... the crew teams up with a terrorist to stop him... and then the Captain makes a virtuous speech about using restraint, resisting the urge to seek revenge, and carefully reasoning out of a bad political situation. When this came up I was all... I thought it was a good plot, and I really liked the movie!
Lloyd Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Agreed. I did an audible, epic facepalm when I saw that tripe rolling right before the credits. It's like the guy who put that in thought to himself, "Hey, let's send a message that's completely contradictory to the message of the film!"
SimonF Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 So I did well to miss the credits until I read this. WTF!
NateForLiberty Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Movies have one purpose, to make money. If your film can be construed to be "anti-military" or "against the troops", you won't make as much money. By putting that stuff in before the credits they are covering their asses. Who cares.

But to answer the question of who cares seems rather obvious: consumers like us who are interested in truth.
NateForLiberty Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Never watch Hollywood looking for the truth. You wouldn't consume an apple and then be pissed it wasn't a steak. It just seems like a waste of energy to be complaining about something like this. *shrug*
MrCapitalism Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Never watch Hollywood looking for the truth. Oh it's there, it's just not easy to find. []

By putting that stuff in before the credits they are covering their asses. Who cares. It's progress that they made a film where they had to cover their ass. Remember when every film had to celebrate the actions of the brave defenders of freedom?
