Yan Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Hi folks, A little story for those who like it then: This was a creation of mine from a time that everything was against me, so I used my last money to pay for a site to put my ideas on. I had other sites before the one I now occupy, somewhere around 1995 and then again in 1997, however it was around the year 2000 that I started it fo' real. Around 2003 my project was listed on the good old microfreedom website from Steven Scharff, as a new national project. Fun, fun. In 2006 with the cartoons scandal the name came along together with the previous motto: "if there is a nation of islam, why not a nation of Yan?"as a joke when we were talking about the absurdities that people do for nothing really, between me and my friend Daniela, a web designer who then helped me pimp the site up back then. We laughed back then in defiance to the madness of burning norwegian embassies and not buying danish butter, however, it caught the attention of some artists who invited me to an international exhibition about the topic of making the world more personal. People like Yoko Ono, and the Free Town of Cristiania, and such, at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Paris, Palais de Tokyo in 2007. As the local governments apologised to Denmark and payed for the damage of the embassies and were forced to export butter again under threat of local riots, as apparently butter is very important on those countries for some odd reason, in sign of respect I decided to change the motto to "If other people can, why not the nation of Yan?" bothered that some people would not get the joke I asked other members of the project for another name, they said it shoud stay the same, so I decided to transcend my own name, so it became "whY A Nation?" therefore, YAN where "why" is the core of the entire concept. In 2010 came another international exhibition that, now, "we", participated, this time in a Biennal in Bienne, Switzerland. I was a very disgrunted because the exhibition started with some maniac holding a Kalashnikov in a building and this is far from what I want to be associated with. Since then I do not participate in any event that I am not fully informed of the "brilliant ideas" they wish to relate my project with. Screw them. I also decided to devote my life during this period to raising a family, so the project was put a bit to the side during the late period. However as the family is up and I believe I figured out how to make this work, I believe I can return to my old dream of developing the project. The project is as follow: every persons residence becomes part of this self governed territory where no taxes are paid (to this new nation) in the hopes that more and more people do so, and hopefully you can see where this is going. As there is no government there are not really any laws, therefore people will be more conscious (hopefully) about their personal choices, and the rules are local. It can work folks. If churches do not pay taxes because of their numbers in terms of members neither shoud we. So if you are interested in participating on this project and you are good at anything I need any help I can get, now I have a bit more time again. My goal at the moment is to have an area where all members can live without paying taxes, if you buy a house you cannot be expelled. There are no stupid "residence taxes", to say the least. I need feedback more than anything else however money is always welcome, at least untill the day it ceises to be relevant in any way. Hugs.
