Wesley Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Technically he may be right, but I have no idea what he thinks he is going to get from all of this. Attention? Converts? He honestly is more likely to get several years in jail and I do not understand the point of it. When he had his new show I donated to it and bought some merchandise, but ever since he has been looking to get arrested in some sort of "noble self-destruction" I haven't understood it. We all should forsake the freedom we have in our lives by breaking the freedoms we do not have and get locked in a cage with even less freedom. It really makes no sense to me.

I personally don't mind if he wants to go out into a blaze of glory but what worries me is Adam is not really planning things out very well. If you know you are probably going to be arrested, is it logical to keep illicit drugs in your home, even inside a safe? He should have planned for any contingency he could to give the state legal arm as little to grasp as possible. The fact he is careless like this shows that it's not something that is properly constructed in my view. Either that or he doesn't care and wants to be prosecuted for possession, in which case he's overestimating the response of the public to him being jailed for that.
ribuck Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Officers poured in. Kokesh was separated from the housemates, who were handcuffed and herded into a room, they said. They estimated that 30 to 40 officers participated in the raid. Does it really work like this? The police handcuff those who are not the subject of their arrest warrant?
Wesley Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 If you know you are probably going to be arrested, is it logical to keep illicit drugs in your home, even inside a safe? ... Either that or he doesn't care and wants to be prosecuted for possession, in which case he's overestimating the response of the public to him being jailed for that. In the past, Adam has advocated the idea of jury nullification and has tried to get arrested for weed in order to have a jury trial by which his argument is "yes I did smoke weed and have weed in my possession, but the law is stupid so you should find me not guilty" and challenge the government to find 12 random people who would say he is guilty. He owns the guns legally, there are claims that the video was done in front of a blue screen as opposed to actually in DC. So theoretically, what he did "wrong" was to posses marijuana, and likely DMT as well. Thus, the whole thing could be a convoluted plan to go the jury nullification route when the cops wouldn't arrest him for the smoke down prohibition events when he smoked marijuana. Just a guess, who knows.
Joey M Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Adam's doing nothing wrong, he's been exposing the truth to a plethora of people. Why are people talking about Adam making stupid mistakes, for speaking up and holding a gun in "freeom plaza?" What people aren't realizing is that the government is the one in the wrong here, not Adam. I say he needs to keep it up, try to be safe, and keep spreading the word of truth.

He's not wrong, it is obvious that the government is. However, he cannot do outreach if he is locked in jail for 10 years. He also will not be able to change the state no matter what he does. So yes, I do question the usefulness and the point of his actions.

Ultimately I would have to say that it's his life to live and if he feels compellled to sit in jail as a martyr instead of hosting a rather obscure talk-show then that's his choice. We can roll the utilitarian dice all we want and talk about what's best for "the movement," but I think that's silly.

So yes, I do question the usefulness and the point of his actions. I don't question the usefulness. He's been on several extremely popular news networks on radio, newspapers, and television. He's spreading the word of truth far more than I'm sure most of us have in that single 20 second video. I don't want to see him go to jail either, and let's hope he doesn't.
