Patrik D Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I recently tried to include information on my profile regarding my gender and date of birth and was unable to save the changes to my profile settings with the message: "Why do you want to join the Freedomain Radio message board?: Cannot be left blank" After basically including the same message that I wrote for the initial account approval process I noticed that this information was displayed on my profile, is this intentional or an unintended feature of the newly upgraded forum? /Patrik
fer Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I can't see the "Why do you want to join . .." field on your profile, maybe it's only visible to admins? (or you deleted it?)
JamesP Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 This is an intentional field with an unintentional side-effect. It is meant to aid in the account approval process so that you no longer have to reply to an email, you can answer the question we're looking for right on the registration page. Unfortunately, making it required for registration makes it required when you edit your profile. I could change it to be visible on the profile page as well, but the nature of the question doesn't quite lend itself to being visible there.

That makes sense. Though I'm guessing moderators could see it. That makes more sense now.
Patrik D Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 I see, seems like a rather neat improvement in the approval process for new members. Thank you for answering my question!
