TDB Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Chapter 6 of Michael Huemer's excellent book The Problem of Political Authority examines the psychology of obedience. I summarized/reviewed the chapter on my blog at http://brimpossible.blogspot.com/2013/07/psychology-of-political-authority.html . This obstacle blocks our path to liberty.
gwho Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 forgot one big reason: they don't believe it is so, and think it is the best choice out of all the alternatives. more sensible people who don't believe such will always say, "but it's the best system we have, and anarchy is so much worse." source: empirical conversations.
Pepin Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 "It is the best system we have" isn't an argument and it isn't any sort of of a rational thought. It is understandable where it comes from and all of the meaning put into the statement through the choice of words, but it just as much an answer as "God did it".
