Miss Valeska Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Hello everyone! I have been trying for a very long time to get java 6 at LEAST on my friend's PowerMac G5 running Mac OSX Leopard. But, I haven't found much on it, If anyone can help me, I'd very much appreciate it! I've tried installing Lubuntu, And I'll try that again soon. Also, I haven't found a functional Virtual Machine for his machine, if you know of one, Please tell me. Thank you for reading!
PatrickC Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I believe we've had this discussion before. PPC computers will not install Java 6 updates properly. It's only avaiable for Intel x86 architecture. As for Linux distro's that run on PPC, you can try Mint as an alternative to Lubuntu which I believe is the only linux distro that will run on PPC computers. http://www.mintppc.org/
Miss Valeska Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Well, People have done it before by compiling certain java or openjdk versions. But I haven't been able to do that exactly. Lubuntu does run on PPC computers still by the way, But thank you.
