Guest darkskyabove Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Great article, short on references, extra-strong on common sense. Which, for me, beats academic mumbo-jumbo every time. The Wussification of Boys
Scottishhh Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Anything that starts with the collectivist premise 'we all need to do x, or think about y', is lazy. There is no brand or flavour of collectivism that solves problems.
PatrickC Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I have to say that I have to agree with the authors thoughts on the treatment of boys in public school these days, in the hands of wiomen saturated in feminist claims that we just need to socialise boys into girls. I'd say he's spot on. Except rather than insist women don't teach boys, I would just remove the boys from school all together. Not sure how the author might react to that mind.
Guest darkskyabove Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 too many leaps of logic for me. That's fair. I should have said "interesting blog" rather than "great article". I have to say that I have to agree with the authors thoughts on the treatment of boys in public school these days, in the hands of wiomen saturated in feminist claims that we just need to socialise boys into girls. I'd say he's spot on. Except rather than insist women don't teach boys, I would just remove the boys from school all together. Not sure how the author might react to that mind. I would assume the author would be quite open to your suggestion. LewRockwell.com is very heavy on the libertarian side of things. "The daily news and opinion site LewRockwell.com was founded in 1999 by anarcho-capitalists Lew Rockwell and Burt Blumert to help carry on the anti-war, anti-state, pro-market work of Murray N. Rothbard." Though I, too, don't accept his conclusion, and I take his observations for just that, I do believe the issue presented is important. The drive to mold people into some group's design ideal is shifting into high gear. (More like they've strapped rockets to the vehicle.) It was bad enough when religion was used as the whip, now state-sponsored coercion is the tool of choice. The good news is that none of the social authoritarians can summon a better argument than, "Because I, or God, or society, said so." The propaganda has gaping holes, requiring only a small dose of critical thinking to penetrate.

Having said that, maybe he has.
Guest darkskyabove Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Update: Opinions from the Cretaceous
MrCapitalism Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Update: Opinions from the Cretaceous I'm still reading this article, but I want to point this out as probably one of the best quotes in literature I have ever read. "I mean none of this to apply to women to whom it does not apply." What an incredible idea packed into a single sentence, 'If this doesn't apply to you, then it doesn't apply to you!" Pure power there.

Pure power there. Yes, a rather powerful and succinct caveat, compared to all the usual, 'not all women are like this'.protocols everyone else feels compelled to jump through. Somewhat provocative perhaps, but compared to the many scribblings of feminists, postively genteel..
ribuck Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 What an incredible idea packed into a single sentence, 'If this doesn't apply to you, then it doesn't apply to you!" Not quite. He's really saying more than that: "If this doesn't apply to you, then I realise it doesn't apply to you!".
