ILO Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Stefan has often discussed the decline in employment, and in some conversations made the case that welfare, and regulation is a significant factor. Is another possible factor that available jobs have declined due to technological advancements, requiring fewer workers, and the population has increased?
Alan C. Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Other significant factors which cause unemployment include price controls (eg. minimum wage), regulatory impositions (eg. Obamacare, paid-leave, special accomodations), and litigation risk (eg. discrimination lawsuits). All of these State-imposed barriers impel employers to seek ways to avoid hiring people, or to reduce their personnel.
