MysterionMuffles Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Whoo it's my first time posting a thread in current events! But here's something I found pretty interesting. I got some thoughts on it, but would like to read yours first since I usually start most of my threads with giant walls of text.
FreedomPhilosophy Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 This is disturbing and it provokes some interesting thought experiments.Maybe having computer simulations could help solve the problem, a sim can't be a victim! Ironically though, this could steal market share from the real children who would take in less money and may be driven into prostitution. And do pedos jerking off in front of children via a video feed cause them more harm than the children's parents whacking them though? It's perfectly ok for adults to watch each other jerk off via video feeds, so at least that's a non crime for adults, adults can't hit each other without consent though. Seems like there's some serious inconsistencies.
Sayo Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 First I'd like to thank the UN for making child webcam sex tourism illegal, we love you guys, you are the needle to our moral compass. Secondly; where are these children's parents? How did the children find themselves in this predicament? It is great that with sweety they are able to pin point predators but with that, shouldn't there be a consorted effort to raise the standards of child rearing in developing nations? We wouldn't want to only to focus on perpetrators of the atrocious act of pedophilia but also the unseen circumstances that bring this horror about, least we perpetuate the cycle. and finally: this is some wicked creative shi*t! It sure is a cyberpunk world. Just imagine the types of systems that could be developed in truly free free society. Often people sit back and tell themselves they shouldn't worry about stuff like pedophilia because the government is taking care of that, right? This project shows (if but a glimpse) what kind creative solutions the dam of statist propaganda holds back.
Wuzzums Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 How exactly is a petition gonna stop webcam child sex tourism?
MysterionMuffles Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Sayo, I made the same argument on Facebook. Why aren't the parents teaching the kids about internet safety and self respect? Someone told me that some of these parents PUT their children in these online prostitutions willingly because it's an easy way to make money. Having government appeal to this it's just...it's dumb. It's too extra. All the resources put into the computerization and the tracking. It looks well and good on the surface, but that only catches current criminals. It doesn't PREVENT the cause, just attacks the symptoms.
Guest Exceptionalist Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Jerking of in front of a cam is immoral but to prostitute a child isn't? The child lacks proper judgement but without the parents, there was no manipulation of the children. The only crime is done on the part of the parents. It is like letting your kids facing constant risk of hurting themselfs. First I'd like to thank the UN for making child webcam sex tourism illegal, we love you guys, you are the needle to our moral compass. There is nothing lovable about the initiation of force. Tourism incorporates travelling.
Carl Green Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 The guy in the video says they shifted their focus to the demand side. I wond where they shifted from and what they were doing to prevent the cause.
NeoEclectic Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 The only thing I don't like about these things is that they go after and prosecute people that haven't actually harmed another person in this act. There's not an actual 10-year-old girl on the other end but a grown adult posing as a child. I find that to be ironic because there are laws in the US that prohibits impersonation on many different levels for many different reasons. Yet we consider it to be morally acceptable in the instance that it serves our interest. What's happening is role play and people are being convicted for it whether they realize it's role play or not. Which is a scary thought on its own considering I'm sure there are many adults that role play in this fashion. But what if one day one of the partners becomes angry about something and decides to turn their role play sessions over to the police for prosecution. It's like setting someone up to rob a fake bank, does so, then gets prosecuted for robbing a bank that wasn't real and no one was harmed. We're reaching the point of Catholic style justice where if you only think about doing something wrong you're automatically guilty as if you actually did it.

The adults that ask for those "services" aren't role playing.
ribuck Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 One thing is for sure, the researchers are definitely role-playing.
MysterionMuffles Posted November 15, 2013 Author Posted November 15, 2013 Lol what do you guys mean by role playing? There's big talk of it all of a sudden.
ribuck Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 By "role playing" I mean that they are getting involved with this avatar as if it was a person.
