MysterionMuffles
I thought this was very interesting and logical. Explains a lot as to how Home Alone really is just an abused child's fantasy of displacing his anger and hatred towards anyone but his family. I just thought it was a silly slapstick movie as a kid, but the fact that it really is so violent, and that most of the violence is caused by a child, it gives me pause. TheLolGuy
Thanks for posting this MM! I used to get so excited when I was younger about these films which were usually replayed every year about Christmas time. Now that I think about them more, the facade is that they are light entertainment and innocent comedy, but beneath that is quite a serious and dark plot! The fact that a family could forget their own child, and that a child has to resort to violence to defeat burglars, is actually disturbing! If I ever see these movies again I will have a sharper analytical eye on it.
Wuzzums
There's this movie, The Collector (it even has a sequel). It's basically the logical continuation of the Home Alone series. A thief breaks into a house only to find out the whole place is booby-trapped with make-shift lethal devices and the family inside is being held hostage by this serial killer. Most of the traps are references to the Home Alone movies except they have a deadly twist to them.
