Map shows what it takes to make one single jar of Nutella

The product was used as a case study for an OECD report, Mapping Global Value Chains, which takes a look at how the global supply chain works.

It shows a single jar contains sugar from Brazil, cocoa from Nigeria, hazelnuts from Turkey, palm oil from Malaysia and vanilla from France, with factories located close to the end markets in Australia, North America and Europe.

A sort of analogue to Leonard Reed's I, Pencil and Murry Rothbard's 'Parable of the Ham Sandwich.'

and that's just the tip of the iceberg. If you start considering all the stuff needed for transportation of every ingredient, including every factory that's making that, plus all the food that is being produced so the workers of each step in the process can eat, plus their clothes which they also need (which also have transportation ofc), plus.... :)
