There is no such thing as absolute truth. You can either construct statements starting from axioms, then deducting from those. If a statement is derived correctly, it is true within that system. Or you can make statements bottom up. In this case, simple statements can be true or false, but you check them, you need to set up hypotheses. And these should be set up in such a way, that they can be falsified easily. Theories don't becomem more true by adding confirming observations.http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/truthlikeness/

strange guy, basically invents another realm of "truth" that requires "faith" and then scares you what horrible things happen if you lack this "truth" (oh, where did we hear that one before ;) )
