Guest e Yer Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Stefan made a comment about the bible related to abandoning father and mother if they steer their children from the path of Jesus (podcast 2573, timecode: 02:47:27-02:47:48.) Matthew 18:3 says Jesus said: Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. What he is saying is that the molding of people from their childlike ways by statist parents and statist propaganda causes them to be sinful. We can see that in the U.S. where the Founding Fathers and many people claim to be Christians or God based in virtue, but they really believe in the evil of the self-serving state. Statism has corrupted the message of Jesus to make him a fisher of men for their cause. On the contrary, Jesus lived during the Roman occupation which was a very brutal and unforgiving state. He was very anti-state. I'd like to point this out to atheist and Christian bashers that the ideals of inalienable rights was supported by Jesus. One type of success anarchy society would be based on the virtues of Christianity. Those anarchy societies would be free market based and therefore economically well-off and a stable harmonious coexistence of man and womankind. A Shangri-La and truly a doorway to the kingdom of heaven. That's what I see is in store for some true non-statists Christians.
Wuzzums Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 "Spare the rod, spoil the child." Your magic-man endorses this too. So I take inconsistency to be the way for the lord, huh? I'll pass.
Wesley Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Proverbs 29:15 ESV The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother. Proverbs 29:17 ESV Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your heart. Proverbs 13:24 ESV Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him. Exodus 21:17 ESV “Whoever curses his father or his mother shall be put to death. Proverbs 22:15 ESV Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him. Matthew 15:4 ESV For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ Hebrews 12:5-11 ESV And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? In short, you should be modeled as a child, because then it is ok for your god-father to beat you and call it discipline. No thanks.
