Youtube now lets you listen or watch 1.5 or 2x speed for those who want to

I find podcasts quite comprehenisble at 1.5x and since I've listened to hundred of hours of different ones over the last few years this would have saved me some time

go to www.youtube.com/html5

then click Request the Html5 Player

presto (literally)

When I listen to things on my computer, I use the speed option of VLC player. I am able to listen to most German audio (my native language) at 1.5x the original speed. When someone speaks English it depends a lot on their accent and pace of speaking. Hans Hermann Hoppe (for those who don't him, here is an example:

) is understandable even at 2.5x speed. Stefan (Molyneux) has a really pleasant accent, but he speaks so fast that I often have to give up following him at even 1.3x the original speed. At times I catch myself decelerating a podcast to 0.8x the original speed to be able to follow him while thinking about what he says.

Be wary, internet travelers.  If you were to listen to Chomsky at .5x you could go to sleep and never wake up!  Or you could listen to Peter Schiff at 2x and shatter time itself!

If your lucky enough to have a portable music player you can install Rockbox on, you can play with speed and pitch, you you can listen fast without that horrible chipmunk effect.

I need this for the Introduction to Philosophy podcasts. The first one is only 40 minutes but its the most boring thing I've ever heard from Stefan. I need to get more in before it puts me to sleep
