I don't know about you but often it can be hard for me to listen to Stefan's podcasts effectively on the computer; I hoard good, useful news articles and read them in the same time. Even when I'd realize the podcast is important. A solution to that (at least for me) is a game that keeps one busy, while not distracting your attention too much from the podcast: Cookie Clicker, a simple yet addictive browser game that you can play for thousands of hours.

Cookie Clicker

I hope no one gets too addicted to it. Remember to keep clicking, buying or anything -- just make sure that your focus stays on A] cookies and B] Freedomain Radio.

I often play Puzzle Quest while I'm listening to podcasts. It's a good way to be able to focus on the content without just staring at video when the audio is mostly what I'm interested in.

Yeah, a simple game is ideal with podcasts that have no listed facts in the video, and especially with those podcasts that have just the blue background throughout the video.

I've been listening while playing Soul Calibur V. I think if it's a game based on reaction I can listen at the same time, but when it comes to something like Assassin's Creed III MP that requires ahead of time strategy PLUS reaction, I tend to lose focus. So SCV and FDR, best combination lately. Before it used to be Sonic Rush but my busted iTouch would freeze up a lot, and Subway Surfers just lost its fun.

I listen while I'm driving and I do a lot of driving for work. It's perfect

I've done that too in commuting (in buses, my car) and that is certainly a worthwhile feat to do. For me, listening and driving isn't as effective as being freed of other important tasks for the time.

That's a good analysis. Do you only play online/arcade? I suppose that works as long as you're not required to watch cutscenes or endings with dialogue or subtitles. Perhaps I'll have to give "better" games a try as well.

I wonder what other games fit for listening to podcasts.

Yeah puzzles are fun too.  I'm gonna nerd out here but they definately help develop an eye for dynamic play, if you know what I mean.  A difficult puzzle will stick in my mind like a splinter for days until I solve it.  I find any kind of math or logic puzzle irresistably addicting.  It needs to be solved!!!  I can't just let them be.

Oh dude, if I'm playing a story based game, I let all the game bgm and sfx, and especially dialogue take precedence. I only put on FDR (or sometimes writing podcasts) when I play online games since I'm sick and tired of hearing the same music and sound effects lol.
