ribuck Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Bizarre! The warning that snorting smarties can cause maggots to hatch in your nose shows why children don't take paternalistic advice seriously. Even if the claim is true (which I doubt), it's presented in a way that is clearly scaremongering and is not credible to a child.
ThomasDoubts Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Yeah I laughed at the maggot thing, I have a hard time believing that. This isn't new either; this was going on when I was in the 6th grade, roughly 15 years ago. These kids are doing it wrong though; haven't they heard of Pixie Sticks? I think of this as a behavioral problem, in that it's pretend drug abuse, but I'd consider the health impacts as negligable.
Wuzzums Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 It's all fun and games till someone starts a Smarties Cartel and takes over the playground.
nathanm Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Must be those new Uncooked Meat Flavor Smarties with Powdered Fly Larvae in them. Mmm, delicious.
LanceD Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 What the hell do you think is going to happen to children who are just abandoned by bad parents in public schools that leave them together in large groups with minimal adult supervision? They are going to do really stupid and self destructive shit.
A__ Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Good point, LanceD. It's pretty obvious that the woman they interviewed, Rebecca Boss Behavioral Health Care Administrator looks like she's holding back laughter while giving her statement.
