st434u
I use open office. I like it better than regular office and it's fully compatible.
JamesP
I use LibreOffice. It's kind of a dog but it is free and allows me to do word processing et al on the relatively rare occasions I need to do so.

It's kind of a dog but it is free and allows me to do word processing et al on the relatively rare occasions I need to do so. LibreOffice is a fork of OpenOffice. Basically Oracle controlled development of OpenOffice which slowed the pace of improvements by the larger open-source community so they took it's code and renamed it. I can't disagree with you on its state but it has improved and should be getting better all the time. Luckily I don't use boring office software often
