abcqwerty123
Someone made a topic about watching The Walking Dead, and I thought I'd make a topic about Supernatural. I am curious if anyone here watches the show and what they think about it. I posted my thoughts on the show below, but for anyone who hasn't watched it yet and is planning too, I put everything in a spoiler tag so I don't spoil it for you. Supernatural is my favorite show because it does so much right. It is a show about two brothers who hunt supernatural stuff. In this world, every mythology is real. So, what does the show do right? First, the character development is incredible. You can see from the very start, how messed up both of the brothers are from their lives, which are shown throughout the series. As the series progresses, you can see how every event takes its toll and the acting is fantastic. There are some very silly parts, but they always have an explanation for them and aren't just thrown out there for no reason. There aren't any parts in the story that aren't explained that I have seen, aside from one. The only part that hasn't been explained, could very well be explained by the end of the series, so it isn't a dead end as of right now. The story itself is incredible. They include every mythology, most of which contradict each other, and then combine them into a story while staying true to each specific myth. Now, what is great about this is, they stay TRUE to the myth and not what people pretend the myth to be. When the myth is evil, they portray it to truth while people believe the myth to be sunshine and rainbows. The story from start to the current time, is so smooth that it is almost difficult to determine when a season ends. Each episode tells a story. Each few episodes tell a story. Each season tells a story. Each few seasons tell a story. They are all combined and each time you think it can't get bigger and better, it does. The series brings out every emotion and it brings it out very well. You will fight back tears, laugh, be pumped and even scared. There is sooo much to love about this series, but most of all, its a show that fights against all myths and always has humans coming out on top. The message I take from it (possibly not the one that they intended for), is to show that humans created every myth to ever exist and that humans can defeat every myth to ever exist, and that isn't something I can say has ever been done in any show or movie I have ever seen. MMX2010
I've seen every episode. Starting watching on TNT from Season 2, Playthings and Night Shifter shortly after Season 5 ended. Then I bought all the DVDs for the first five seasons, binged watched them, and have been following live from Season 6 onward. I agree with everything you said about the show. And I think its best quality is to produce that really powerful episode from seemingly out of nowhere. (The latest one was the Mark of Cain episode. Just amazing. So fresh and sharp, and yet so familiar.)

To me, it is the best American show I have ever seen but I don't know almost anyone who watches it.

But the best American show ever is clearly The Wire, with Game of Thrones coming in a distant second. (I prefer politically relevant social commentary to well-constructed fiction all day long.) I have never heard of The Wire, I will have to check it out. As for Game of Thrones, I disagree. It is very slow paced, boring and very little to none on character development. I do watch it, but I watch many shows/movies so I know what is being talked about, but I couldn't place that in my top list at all. But hey, we have different opinions and that's what makes us awesome!
AaronVHolland
A buddy of mine and I are big fans of the show Supernatural. I'm tall with longer hair, he's got shorter hair so, naturally he will shout "Sammy?!? Sam?!?!" And if I hear it, I pop in and swiftly spit out "DEAN!!" The family dysfunction and abuse is front and center in the show, even doing crazy things like the boys being able to confront their parents as they were star crossed lovers before the boys were born and the abuse began. I've written three songs with Supernatural as a theme and have planned on gathering my fellow musicians up to properly cover Kansas' "Carry on My Wayward Son." Absolutely love the show.
