cynicist Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Pretty much every forum I've ever visited has had this thread so I'm surprised I didn't see it here. We do have a liberty-themed one but I thought this one would be fun for people who just want to share whatever happens to be tickling their earbuds in the moment. I'll start (youtube links are encouraged, you can embed them by just pasting the youtube link into the chatbox)

It reminds me of the stuff they use to play on Toonami.
Rob_Ilir Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 A Slovenian guy got me hooked on his stuff:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh6_nrF1rAc I love this brass band remix:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHBWlJg4uGY
Lians Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 A Slovenian guy got me hooked on his stuff: He did you a favour because Gramatik is awesome! Street Bangerz is still one of my favourite albums.
Melissa McWilliams Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Stef's latest call-in show, "Estrogen Based Parasites #killallmen." Fantastic as always... time for another donation.
MMX2010 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Right now, my musical taste is very contracted. My two current favorite songs both remind me of FDR: Burn by Ellie Gouling and Brave by Sara Bareilles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCT3Li5dfZE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUQsqBqxoR4 And I will also listen to video game soundtracks.
dsayers Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Burn by Ellie Gouling For as long as I can remember, I've always preferred studio recordings over liver performances. The one person that stands out against that trend for me is Ellie Goulding. After seeing , I find the studio version just horrible by comparison. You picked the worse time to ask what I'm listening to. Lately, my 1999 version of Winamp has had all my old Insane Clown Posse and Twiztid queued up. Nostalgiac reasons mostly. Oh and I cannot pass up an opportunity to praise Ladytron!

Electronic music happens to be the largest part of my collection because of the variety. Something I've been addicted to recently:
cynicist Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 This artist was a caller on Fight, Flight, or Freeze!?!. I normally dislike rap/hip-hop as most of the time the lyrics are about stupid thug culture stuff but this guy is talented and thoughtful.

Thanks for sharing but I'm already familiar with them, unfortunately there just aren't that many. Here's one of my favorite D&B tracks.
Tyler H Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I haven't listened to this song by Rise Against since before I started listening to FDR and it came on the other day. It seemed so much more powerful now that I see these wars for what they really are
cynicist Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 A beautiful instrumental (piano) piece by Oskar Schuster
Quadrewple Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 (Hiphop) Love this song, it has a very positive message as well.

cynicist Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 Found this one in Kevin's profile. I have a good remix of a Marina And The Diamonds song, but I didn't know how good their original stuff was.

dsayers Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Link for those who use browser addons that alter appearance. Embedded Vimeo seems to not escape it the way the actual video's page does.
Fast and steady Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 This is the type of thing I like to listen to for inspiration in the background while I'm hacking away optimizing code at work

dsayers Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Lol, why, because of the friction between him and ICP? I don't get into all that stuff. Yeah, I like almost all of Eminem's early stuff. In fact, when it's chilly enough for a hat, but not a thick coat, I can often be seen simultaneously wearing a Shady hoodie and ICP stocking cap. I always wondered if anybody would notice the supposed contradiction with that.
cynicist Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Here's a passionate new song from Lindsey Stirling featuring Lzzy Hale. Always love hearing her violin.

alexqr1 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 This is my go-to piece and Kempff's interpretation is the best I've ever heard.
Ancient Mariner Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Marty Friedman used to play for Megadeth during the 90s. During that time, one of his solo projects was released in 1992 under the title Scenes. It is an instrumental album filled with plenty of beautiful guitar-led melodies with a very evident Japanese/Far East flavor (especially the first 20 minutes of the album) For me, it has a melancholic and introspective sound. It makes me feel very vulnerable and transparent at times, as if my emotions were being show on stage for everyone to see. Also, at times, the songs reach a climax where all the emotions being expressed seem to be so immense that they explode and almost materialize (and sometimes they do, in the form of tears) Tracklist: 0:00 - Tibet 2:35 - Angel 6:14 - Valley of Eternity 14:28 - Night 21:07 - Realm of the Senses 26:49 - West 32:24 - Trance 34:20 - Triumph
