rabbithole Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Hello everybody, I'm rarely on FDR anymore but I'd like to share this online community for depersonalization disorder called dpselfhelp.com.
Culain Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Can you share with us what depersonalization disorder actually is, the dangers, and the signs of having it?
Devon Gibbons Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 It looks like a big undefined mess of disorders grouped together. I read of symptoms of dissociation, non-attachment, and inability to focus. Seems like borderline issues, with some schizoid/schizophrenic, and passive-aggressive traits rolled into one. Are there any actually defined traits though with this? It's a pretty large blog, I hope they aren't giving people the wrong advice for them.
lee1138 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 This is only the second post by rabbithole since 2009. I think he's just spamming.
SBRFS Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depersonalization_disorder Depersonalization disorder (DPD) is a mental disorder in which the sufferer is affected by persistent or recurrent feelings of depersonalization and/or derealization. In the DSM-IV-TR it is classified as a dissociative disorder, while in the ICD-10 it is called depersonalization-derealization syndrome and is classified as an independent neurotic disorder. The core symptom of depersonalization disorder is the subjective experience of "unreality in one's sense of self", and as such there are no clinical signs. People who are diagnosed with depersonalization also experience an almost uncontrollable urge to question and think about the nature of reality and existence as well as other deeply philosophical questions.
dsayers Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Sounds to me like a fancy way of saying abuse victim.
