I almost missed this great travel essay about his first day in Amsterdam. So I wanted to share it with the forum in case you were unaware of the essay as well.

"A Philosopher’s First Impressions of Amsterdam

 

So I just spent my first day in Amsterdam, a lovely and typically chaotic European city, full of narrow legged hipsters with tight purple trousers and tween beards, women smoking and reading text messages while bicycling at Mach 12, and coffeehouses so tightly packed that it seems that no one can make it more than 18 feet before needing caffeine injections straight to the eyeballs.

My first impression is that the people seem - underfed? Then I realized...."
