Wesley Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 This is some guess work, but I have had trouble entering chat today and have noticed minimal people in there, so I think this issue is going on with others. I noticed that the boards have switched over to an https://. Firefox will take content that is not secure (when viewing a secure page) and block it by default. I think that it may be doing this with the chat elements as they are not secure, but the site is. I was able to manually unblock it and then spend some quality time in chat by myself today, somewhat wondering where everyone was until I developed this theory. Maybe others have no problems and I am just seeing weird stuff on my end that I need to figure out, but I think that might be something to check out or else the chat might not be very usable by the average person. If anyone else is having issues too and can reply with what they see (even that everything is working fine for them) it would likely be helpful for diagnosis.
Melesina Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I'm experiencing the same, Wes. I've been seeing only one person in chat at a time. Additionally, when I try to log in to chat, it continually loads and never lets me in.
Carl Green Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I'm having the same problem. ...if it doesn't get fixed soon I might end up getting some work done I started a temp group chat on skype but my FDR based contacts list is quite paltry.
JamesP Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Thanks for this. I've opened a ticket with the software provider. I know how to "fix" it but I'm hoping we can retain SSL over the entire site. The streamer is also broken, but I've been meaning to relocate that to freedomainradio.com for some time now (it's currently at anarchism-wow.com). I plan on doing that tonight. I did fix the error with the gradient_bg not being loaded over HTTPS... OK, just FYI... I'm attempting to fix this. The board may go down.
JamesP Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 OK--should be fixed now! Give it a try. I had to configure the chat to be non-HTTPS. Not much we can really do about that, unfortunately. Looks like they will support HTTPS for the chat in version 4.0. Not sure when this is planned.
Wesley Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 Hm, now whenever I click the "Chat" link in the top right, I am redirected to the homepage. This seems to be specific to me but I am not sure why it is happening.
Wesley Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 OK, all fixed on my end so nothing to worry about any more. Thanks for the quick fix!
