OtherOtie Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 If I'm right in thinking he was the founder of this approach, is his book any good, or is there better material out there that has developed IFS more helpfully? (Just because you founded something doesn't mean you've perfected it, I wouldn't really read Darwin to gain knowledge of evolutionary biology these days...) Is the book worth 17 bucks?
wdiaz03 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Howdy, Have you looked at Peter K. Gerlach site http://sfhelp.org/ It might have some useful information before pulling the trigger on the book. site is a little hard to get around last time I used it. Let me know what you think of the site or book if you buy it.
OtherOtie Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 Yeah, I've checked out that site and his videos. Pretty useful, but the navigation is hell. He's always redirecting you all over the place. I would rather just read a book.
Yeravos Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I got into IFS 2 months ago, and the base-book I use right now is ''Self-Therapy'' by Jay Earley, and I think it's really well written, and through it I have gained several insights. It explains, step by step how you can teach yourself to listen and interact with your different parts, and it does it pretty well I'd say. I haven't read any of Richard Schwartz though, so I can't say whether it's better or not.
