Erik_T Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Hi all! I've recently completed a short story inspired by the voluntarist / liberty movement, and thought the community might find it enjoyable . Any critiques, criticisms, or comments in general would be appreciated. Also, if anyone is aware of any liberty-minded publishers of fiction, I too would love to be made aware! Thank you, my friends. Enjoy! All Is Fair in Love and Lottery Dating.doc
RyanT Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Absolutely brilliant mate! Really well written, to the point and although the story is satire, it's also kinda subtle, I never got that feeling of simplistic/outlandish you often get with this sort of thing.
Erik_T Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 Ryan, thank you. I really appreciate you devoting some of your your time to reading my work. I know how much of a commitment (and a rather monotonous one) it can be. Thanks again, my friend.
RyanT Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Ah pleasure was all mine, As I said did really like how you didn't go for the obvious analogy, and that line 'well it's reduced rape by 11%', could have straight out of the mouth of a statist! Pretty chilling...
TheMatrixHasMe Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Well done. Thank you for posting. As you probably know , there are only a few small typo's, but this might be ready for self publishing, if that is something you are considering. Again, I'm sure you're already aware if some if your options, but if you aren't it may be worth mentioning that you may do so through Kindle on your own, or through submission to "Kindle Singles" http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000700491 Or through a new Kindle short story platform/magazine called "Day One" http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FDWVIHO?ie=UTF8&at=aw-iphone-pc-us-20&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links (Scroll down for submission guide lines) There is also wattpad. Thank you, Steve. I have corrected a few already. I had not considered the options available to me through Kindle. Thank you for the information, and the links, and of course your time in reading my work. I'm going to assume you are a writer yourself. Perhaps you could direct me towards some of your own work? I'd love to read it. Thanks, man

InquisitorM Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I quickly skimmed the opening to get a quick feel for it, since I'm not in the mood for a decent critique at this moment, and I already saw a few stylistic things I wanted to give you some feedback on. Would it be okay to make up a GDoc to make notes on? It's just what I'm used to.
