aFireInside Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I realized that California has a pretty crappy standard of living. What is a State in which you can rent a studio apartment with a minimum wage job? I don't have a job yet but I'm searching, my plans are to find roommates for now and eventually move to a better place. (cheaper)
NumberSix Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I don't think you can live on minimum wage anywhere in US. Try getting a job working on Bakken oil field. I heard even Walmart employees make $17 an hour in that area due to labor shortages. http://www.bakkenoilcareers.com/

What type of job do you recommend for a non skilled person ?
MrCapitalism Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Lots of manual labor jobs to be had in the oilfields in California. The conditions suck, but the pay is pretty decent. You may want to look into that.

NameName Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I think this is what you're looking for, it's the Real Personal Income by state. This is average income and taking in price differences from state to state to determine the wealthiest states. This is 2011-2012: http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/regional/rpp/rpp_newsrelease.htm Also, to see the change over time, here is an older version year 2010-2011: http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/regional/rpp/2013/rpp0613.htm So this shows you the affordability of life. This next link is an AMAZING resource, it shows you the quality of life/happiness of people in different states. It's an interactive map and you can look at many different things like Job Satisfaction,Depression,Exercise, Nighttime safety and more: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2011/03/06/weekinreview/20110306-happiness.html Also, what type of job are you looking for? It is important to find a state that can offer the type of employment you seek. A state might look really good to you, but it might be a rural area that doesn't have the right jobs for you. Take what matters to you the most and apply it to the statistics I showed you, this might help. Wish you the best 1
