Thanks! I have saved this list. I am not thinking about being a parent for at least half a decade, probably more. If I do come around reading all the books from FDR (just ordered the bundle a little while ago), then one of these is next!
Tyler H Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I'm reading Parent Effectiveness Training by Dr. Thomas Gordon right now, I'd certainly recommend it. I don't have kids yet, but I want to get a good running start for when the time comes. A nice side effect has been that it has helped me get in touch with my anger towards my parents that I've had a hard time actually feeling. 1
omegaPRIME Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Just bought '1,2,3... The Toddler Years: A practical Guide for Parents & Caregivers'. Thanks for the recommendation RachelAnn!

Definitely a must read even for non-parents.The techniques in PET are extremely useful for all relationships, not just for the parent/child relationships because the 12 communication roadblocks can occur anywhere. 1

To add (and bump) I just started How to Talk so Kids will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk so far it's really good and if there are any more recommendations I'd love to read them
dsayers Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Philosophical Baby by Alison Gopnik When I saw the title, this is what I wanted to post.
