Spleanicus Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Saw this news article todayhttp://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/deadpool-arrested-on-sydney-train-police-alerted-to-superhero-armed-with-guns-grenades-and-ninja-swords/story-fni0cx12-1227001404525I think it's backwards that folks are more afraid of a guy in a comic book character costume with fake weapons than folks in blue costumes with real guns.Thoughts?
Eternal Growth Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I think most people just derive a feeling of comfort, predictability and security from submitting to the most powerful alpha, with the most powerful alpha being the state and the men in blue costumes with guns being its agents. The comic book character costume guy is potentially in competition with the most powerful alpha, and so people want him to be disposed of in order to ease their anxieties and return to the state of comfortable exploitation.
J. D. Stembal Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 This reminds me of a Japanese proverb: 出る杭は打たれる ("The stake that sticks out gets hammered.") The tax slaves get nervous when those around them start displaying unusual modes of behavior. We really do police ourselves. Look what happens if you are careless enough to run around naked in public where fragile sensibilities could be offended - http://thehumanist.com/january-february-2010/naked-pumpkins-sex-offenders-and-terrorists/ (I am torn on the example of the spanking mother arrested for terrorism.)
