tjt Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 The death of a 42-year-old father has been ruled a homocide. Eric Garner died after he was confronted by cops and suffocated for selling cigarettes individually. You'll see in the video that after being swarmed by a group of cops and put into a chokehold, Eric Garner lies there seemingly dead in handcuffs on the ground for 7 minutes while police do nothing but stand over him, slap him on the shoulder occasionally, check his pockets and wait for paramedics to arrive. Chokeholds are not allowed by the NY police and selling cigarettes individually is a minor offense. This story makes me feel sick. Of all the burning questions and anger I have, I must wonder why these cops cannot perform CPR. I'm really hoping ALL the cops involved get charged with something. I can't imagine how the Garner family feels loosing Eric Garner this way. Article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2014/08/01/eric-garners-death-was-a-homicide-says-new-york-city-medical-examiner/ Vid: P.S. Al Sharpton is all over this, so it's going to turn into a racial thing (which it may be). But I really hope people are able to see also that when the police force is paid with stolen money, they have no incentive to protect the public, instead they put the public in greater danger.
Tree Frog Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Look at that diverse group of police men. Totally racism. The other day I heard that in a near by town an elderly white man was killed by police because his can was mistaken for a firearm. Police negligence and brutality effects EVERYONE. It is absolutely terrible what happened here, the initiation of force in this situation can not be justified for any reason. 1

cynicist Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Some cop wants to feel like a badass and ends up murdering someone? And then they just get put on 'desk-duty'? Christ, maybe we could replace one of the non-violent drug-related incarcerations with this asshole.
A__ Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 That poor guy. It was incredibly heart breaking to read what happened to him but to actually see the video.. It makes it more real somehow. Thank goodness the video was recorded behind glass separated from those jerks with badges. You never know when a cop will get have some kind of an ego explosion and aggress against a witness. This is another recent video capturing what cops do: It's disgusting how many of them there are and how harmful they are to all communities.
Kyke Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 http://nypost.com/2014/07/19/man-in-chokehold-death-had-no-throat-damage-autopsy/ It's still police brutality as the article mentions "NYPD protocol prohibits the use of chokeholds.", the question is how responsible is the police officer for Eric's death. I don't believe there's any deliberate targeting of black individuals like 90% of the people (exaggeration) in the comment section of the video are claiming.
kerou Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Holy shit, the nerve of these fucking cops. I was burning in anger while watching that video. No one tried to perform CPR, no one tried to save his life. Fucking hell, this is really upsetting, but not surprising.
