MMX2010
As usual a lot of the You Tube comments are ridiculous. Agreed. After reading them, I noticed my enthusiastic appreciation for this video was sagging a bit just by reading the Youtube comments. So now I'm going to avoid doing so. It's possible for me to develop emotional strength which allows me to focus solely on the comments that ask serious, curious questions, so that I can direct people to Stef's answers. But that's the only reason I can see myself ever perusing Youtube comments in the future.
jpahmad
Wow, extremely powerful Stefan, I was very moved, especially when you recounted the end of Chris Farley. I'll have that image of him reaching out to the hooker while she walks away with his stuff in my mind for a long time.
K.o.t.H.
I really loved this one, you guys really do great work. Thank you for all of this great material. I feel strongly about how unfair the family court system is in the US. Thank you for speaking the truth, again.
andkon
~17:30 "That's some gripping stuff." Pun intended? Great work, ditto. The childhood biographies and adult results are always enlightening, if sadly predictable. More please.
nathanm
Just curious, are the obvious injustices of alimony an inevitable part of the legal system of marriagedivorce or can it be avoided by some other legal means?

Three
Great presentation. Another powerful delivery from, Stef. this prompted me to check out some of Robin's interviews out of curiosity. During the first video I clicked on, about 1:18 in, he makes the joke about Alimony. this was about three years after his divorce with Valerie Velardi. "Never become attached to a house. And the Judge Said ALL DE MONAY. And we'll just shorten it to Alimony for the people at home. Divorce, derived from the latin word divorcorum, in other words, having your genitals torn out through your wallet. Kiss your ASSets goodbye! I do!" After watching this with the knowledge I have now from Stef's presentation, I find this incredibly depressing.
Alan C.
As usual a lot of the You Tube comments are ridiculous. Paraphrasing... "Stef hates women." "Stef blames women." "Stef hates his mother and takes it out on women." It's overwhelming. These people don't listen and they can't think.

Lians
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/11030100/Robin-Williams-friend-reveals-actor-resented-having-to-do-new-Mrs-Doubtfire.html But according to his neighbour and friend of over a decade, he no longer wanted to work on films as he felt they were not conducive to his mental well-being. "Robin had promised himself he would not do any more as he invested so much in his roles that it left him drained and particularly vulnerable to depressive episodes,” the friend told the paper. "He signed up to do them purely out of necessity. He wasn’t poor, but the money wasn’t rolling in any more and life is expensive when you have to pay off two ex-wives and have a family to support.” [...] “He didn’t like being away from the family for too long, which was a big issue for him when he was shooting films,” the friend said. “That’s why he agreed to do the TV show (The Crazy Ones). It was filmed nearby in San Francisco and they were very flexible with him. “He was hit hard when they cancelled it - it was helping him pay the bills.”
Ace
Very powerful video. I think I'm scared completely straight about chasing attractive women. Substance over style. Really makes you think hard... If I hadn't come across FDR I just know I would end up in a dysfunctional empty marriage someday, no doubt about it. It just reminds about how important self knowledge is. Otherwise, we just keep trying to fix things the wrong way, and nothing ever gets repaired. And unfortunately most people do that their entire life. But what a miserable ending. Really sad.
Psychophant
Stef is all touchy-feely about it in the end. You just wanna give him a tissue, pat him on the back and say "He didn't die for nothing." There certainly is another bunch of redpillers resurrected from the undead. aFireInside
Just finished watching it. It was a really good video the hypothesis is very well argued for. It really sucks that all these genius men are idiots when they choose a wife. To die of overworking to satisfy the money lust of these evil women, thats horrible. Clay
http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/chi-robin-williams-parkinsons-disease-20140814-story.html According to Robin Williams' current wife, he was in the early stages of Parkinson's disease. “Robin spent so much of his life helping others. Whether he was entertaining millions on stage, film or television, our troops on the frontlines, or comforting a sick child — Robin wanted us to laugh and to feel less afraid. Since his passing, all of us who loved Robin have found some solace in the tremendous outpouring of affection and admiration for him from the millions of people whose lives he touched. His greatest legacy, besides his three children, is the joy and happiness he offered to others, particularly to those fighting personal battles. Robin's sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson's Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly. It is our hope in the wake of Robin's tragic passing, that others will find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they are facing so they may feel less afraid.”
Dylan Lawrence Moore
In my whole life, whenever it was announced that a "celebrity" died, I never cared any more than someone pointing out some person I never knew in the obituaries. As per usual when it comes to recent events, I discovered Robin Williams death by checking out the podcast list on FDR and felt my stomach sink. He is the first celebrity--a person worth celebrating--who hit me with an emotional hammer upon news of his death. Thank you Stefan for the analysis and your tribute to Robin at the end. -Dylan
MysterionMuffles
The State takes another life indeed... I always knew he had a dark side based on the more serious roles he took like One Hour Photo (oh so creepy!) and Patch Adams. I mean I know that was based on a real doctor, but Robin Williams' portrayal shows a lot about how much his masking of pain with laughter resonated with the character. I wasn't a big fan of his, really, and never gave him much thought until his death, but knowing his life story still astounds all the same. *sigh* A friend of mine believes that Robin Williams alongside Michael Jackson were actually murdered because the whole depression thing goes against who these men were inherently. When I asked murdered by who who, she wouldn't say who, and told me to do my own research. Then I asked her to tell me more and she just dismissed the conversation saying...I should do my own research. Hey maybe I should, but what a way to kill a discussion, right?! "Robin Williams was actually a very spiritual person" (as if that ever did that significant good for someone in the asshole proximity), "so it doesn't make sense that he would even have depression." She claims. Abridged version: I had to drop yet another unempathetic irrational person in my life. It's not simply because of this conversation, but many others of the philosophical nature where all she does is make egregious claims and double down when I ask for more reason or evidence for those claims, blaming our misunderstanding on my lack of knowledge. It's like asking what 2x2 is and getting lashed out for not understanding the fundamentals of math. Well, duh, that's why I'm asking, right?! Maybe Robin was murdered, but it's more likely he comitted suicide. But who cares? What matters most is that he was suffering due to the ridiculous nature of The State. Forget murder conspiracies, it's no mystery. The divorce court system is a subtle murderer in and of itself. What do you guys think of the possibility that celebrity deaths--from overdoses like MJ's and suicides like Robin Williams'--could actually be murders? Alan C.
I didn't think that Popeye was a bad movie. I saw it with my family in the theater when I was a kid. I recall reading somewhere that Robin Williams didn't like the movie and regretted acting in it. If I had ever had the opportunity to meet him, I would've told him that he shouldn't feel that way and instead be proud that he brought joy to millions of children. LovePrevails
Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says his life is harsh and cruel. Say he feels all alone in a threatening world. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go see him. That should pick you up. Man bursts into tears. Snafui
Just curious, are the obvious injustices of alimony an inevitable part of the legal system of marriagedivorce or can it be avoided by some other legal means? If you have a piece of paper from the state saying you are "married" then you have to go to the state to divorce. Stop going to the state for that paper in the first place is my view. dejvor
Edit: skip to 2m28s I thought this YouTube clip of Robin in the Actor's Studio really showed his pain to the world https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGhfxKUH80M&feature=youtu.be&t=2m28s Great anecdotal evidence of childhood trauma manifesting itself later in life. What is it about your mind?! What is this thing that does this thing to you? Try to explain yourself! Comes from a deep part inside myself that was actually looking for my mother but I saw that moment when she looked up and I went OK I'll be funny for her [...] I want to be accepted. You like me! You really like me! No, no it's not that... I can be trained...
