Was there a mix-up in the Scottish independence referendum?

Well you can't trust State agents. And democracy is the worst possible form of government even when there is no fraud. But if there are significant suspicions and there is a second round of voting and the yes win, I will be glad for Scotland and the world.

looking at the topic title I was hoping you were saying that people got it confused as to whether it was "Yes, I want independence!" or "No, I don't want to be a part of the UK!"

Now that would be funny... in the most democratic fashion possible.

Indeed. We were "confused" here in the Nice 1 and Lisbon 1 referenda. Mainly because they were both voted down. Curiously, after some re-education, scare-mongering and outright implied threats, we all realised( well, 50% or more) what the right answer was and voted them both to pass when they were re-run. I'm sure if the Scots had voted for independence, they would have been deemed "confused" also.
